Two New Mexico Youths Arrested At Sipe Springs
Two youths from New Mexico, Tommie Tucker 16 and Noble Murdock 17, were arrested Thursday afternoon near Sipe Springs by Buck Jones. They faced car theft charges after driving a 1940 Lincoln Zephyr owned by a Roswell resident and attempting to sell its radio and heater. They are held in Comanche jail for Federal officers amid anticipated federal charges for moving a stolen car across state lines.

He lies in serious condition at the German Hospital with a fractured skull broken jaw and multiple broken limbs. Dallas Brothers Arrested in Car Burn Incident
Fred Hall and Harmon Hall of Dallas faced charges for burning a 1936 Pontiac owned by the pair. The blaze occurred four miles east of Comanche on Highway 10. Lake Eanes Surges Fourteen Feet After Weekend Rain
A heavy three day rainfall in Comanche County raised Lake Eanes by fourteen feet four inches, nearly filling the municipal lake. Water now covers more than twice the previous area as city water superintendent Merlin Jenkins notes the timing came during a low point in the lake’s 15 year history.

Frank Barton Sentenced to Two Years for Burglary
Frank Barton, 19, was sentenced by a District Court jury to two years in the penitentiary for burglary connected to the Lewis Bowers Fruit Stand theft in Comanche on May 18, 1940. The ruling noted the sentence would not be suspended. Barton also faces an indictment for murder tied to the dugout death of J. D. Couch, Sr., near Gustine last summer. Sam Ash Acquitted. 30000 Troops to Train at Brownwood
About 30 000 troops are slated for training at Camp Bowie Brownwood in December. The 36th Division Texas National Guard will mobilize from a peace strength around 10 000 to roughly 18 000 during training.
