Full Time Pastor Named at Board Church

Rev. Jerry D. Gregory, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gregory of Comanche, has accepted the full time pastorate of the Baptist Church of the Board Church community. He is a junior ministerial student at Howard Payne College and lives with his parents, commuting between Comanche and Brownwood. Services are Sundays 10 a.m. Sunday School 11 a.m. Church, 7 p.m. Evening. Wednesdays 7:30 p.m. prayer meetings. Officials invite all to come hear Rev. Gregory.

Local 7th Grader Bagged Eight Point Buck Near Desdemona

Max Coan, 13, son of Mr and Mrs Hugh Coan of Beattie, a seventh grader at Comanche Grammar, shot an eight point buck on Wood Ranch near Desdemona Saturday. His father said the deer weighed about 125 pounds and noted Max is a standout Little League catcher.

Comanche boys in minor collision after game

After the football game two Comanche youths were involved in a pickup car collision in the city. John D Foreman rode in a GMC pickup and Webe Shaffer drove a Dodge, both escaping with only slight injuries and minor vehicle damage. Harold Price Jr a freshman at A&M visited his parents and started for the Aggie Fish in a 13-0 loss to the Texas Shorthorns in Austin. Mrs. Roy Rains Jr. of Houston visited her mother, Nora Gordon, this week.

Mr and Mrs Virgil Norris and their children of Comanche will spend Thanksgiving Day in Dallas after accepting an invitation from Mrs Floy Barber the Norris aunt and Walter Neitsch their cousin to attend a large turkey dinner.

Eagles Dominate Bi-District Opener in Red-Hot Victory

The Comanche Countians piled up 36 points as they limited Buckholts to four first downs. The Eagles were strong last week in the bi district contest with 19 first downs, while Comanche County scored all their 36 points before opponents crossed the goal line late in the game.

G W Ware Kills 11 Point Buck in San Saba Hunt

G W Ware a Santa Fe employee returned Friday from a deer hunt in San Saba with an 11 point buck weighing 92 pounds dressed. The party of nine Blanket men bagged ten bucks, Ware killing from 100 yards with a 270 rifle. Hunting rights on the ranch cost $75 each.

Comanche Jaycees Gather Xmas Toys for Children

Comanche Jaycees plan toy collection in Comanche next Tuesday morning for distribution to needy children in the territory. Donations of toys in good shape or repairable are requested with pickups by truck routes through town and curbside boxes. A separate pickup will operate on the square for outlying areas, with Jaycees repairing items before Christmas distribution.

About twenty players report after a day of rest from football to begin basketball workouts. Coach Murphy and Scott run the A team, Harmon handles the B team and also directs the girls team. Aunt Jemima Pancake Supper in Comanche Friday

Aunt Jemima is set to serve her pancakes at the Veterans Building in Comanche Friday night December 9. The Lions Club sponsors the event with proceeds to the Lions Charity fund for the needy. Tickets go on sale next week by the Comanche Boy Scouts and Lions Club members.

Texas A M Texas Thanksgiving Game To Be Televised

A live telecast of the Texas A M game on Thanksgiving will be shown nationally via hook up with Temple and Ahienee stations and WBAP channel 5. Radio coverage includes KRLD with Wes Box for Rice Baylor at 2 pm and SMU TCU at Fort Worth on WFAA WBAP with Kern Tipps. The Texas A M aggie game also airs next week on Humble TV’s Texas in Review.
