Firemen Stop Blaze At Jail Damaging Death Cell Turret
Firemen halted a Monday blaze at the jail causing about 100 dollars in damage to the turret area. The Death Cell window frames burned and bedding like mattresses and blankets were destroyed while Sheriff Gilbreath found the run around partially wrecked. Milliken and King were confined in the turret cell and were moved after the fire. During spring King narrowly escaped when bars were found sawed.

Priddy Boy Victim of Own Gun at Merritt Lake
Fritz Schlee an 18 year old Priddy resident died after a single barrel shotgun discharged while he tried to pull a small boat to shore during duck hunting at Merrit Lake between Goldthwaite and Priddy. The blast tore flesh and entered the abdomen causing fatal injuries. He was conscious briefly before dying at Hamilton Sanitarium. Service held at St John Cemetery with Rev J M Mansur.
