R Ray Rankin president of the First Comanche Bank announced John May was elected a Director at the October 8 board meeting. May, Brownwood native, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne May and has banking experience at First National Bank Brownwood and the First Comanche Bank in recent years. He studied at Texas Tech University and is praised for business acumen and personality.

Hospital expansion plans announced for Comanche Community Hospital

Mrs. Virginia Turner administrator says the executive committee proposes expanding hospital facilities and creating a Department of Human Relations with coordinated personnel. The hospital remains fully accredited by state agencies and Medicare. Expansion submission will go to the Board of Trustees next month due to near full occupancy and interest from three doctors.

Chamber Heads Toward Free Turkey Bet After Game

Comanche Chamber of Commerce president David Beene has secured a free turkey for the chamber's Thanksgiving dinner. He bet Bowie Chamber president Frank Massey on Friday's football game, agreeing to meet on the 50 yard line to claim the bird if the Indian team wins over the Bowie Jackrabbits.

Indian Band Competes in Region 7 Contest at Coleman

Indian Band led by Director Mike Brady travels to Coleman Hufford Field Saturday for Region 7 competition. The 14 Class AA bands vie for ratings with twirlers also judged. Band members perform at 3 50 p m with judges Dan Gibbs Bill Brady and Bob Ingram assessing in five categories Superior Excellent Good Average Poor.

Thanksgiving Services in Comanche at First Baptist Church

The fifth annual Community Thanksgiving Service will be held Wednesday November 27 at 7 30 p m in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church. Rev Howard Hollowell retired Abilene minister will speak with music by Betty Thomas and the First Baptist Church girls choir. Hollowell has served at several churches, attended McMurry, and is a Nolan native active in Rotary and a retired Air Force minister now ill.
