More Cars In Operation In County Each Year

New York nov 15 the number of cars in operation in Comanche County keeps rising with no saturation. As of Jan 1 there were 5359 passenger cars registered, equal to 172 per 100 local families vs national 137 and Texas 142. County ownership grows with income levels and teen drivers increasing turnover of used cars. Local expenditures at service stations reached 3 069 000 last year, up from 1 784 000 five years ago.

Langley Wins Football Contest

Heartland Insurance Expands With Fire & Casualty Agency

Heartland Life Insurance manager Jim Roberts announces formation of Heartland Fire & Casualty Agency with office in the Heartland Building. The Clark Insurance Agency is merged into the new firm, with Nell Clark Bruce Clark and Gene Rauhut joining. Co manche School Adopts In-Service Education Program

Beginning Thursday the Co manche School faculty will study courses across social studies science mathematics health and physical education. Dismissals will be one hour early five times this year and two hour afternoon sessions from 2 30 to 4 30 will organize detailed study guides. Guides will later be available to faculty Board members and patrons who want copies.

Pecan Show Set for December 6 at Co Manche TP&L

The ninth annual Pecan Show will be held in the TP&L Hospitality Room in Co manche on Saturday December 6. Entries from Texas growers must be grown in 1969 and become property of the Comanche County Pecan Association. Each entry requires at least 40 pecans and owners may submit one entry per improved or paper shell variety.

Chief to Publish Thanksgiving Edition Early Next Week

The Comanche Chief will publish a day early on Wednesday November 24 for Thanksgiving. The edition will be in streets Wednesday afternoon and delivered to rural and city routes Friday. Post office boxholders receive copies late Wednesday or early Thursday. The Chief closes for Thanksgiving Thursday through Saturday.
