General Telephone in Comanche and Gustine will launch Expanded Direct Dialing at 1:01 am Sunday November 18 allowing customers to dial most US long distance calls. Comanche party-line users must dial 19 plus the seven digits. Reporting service will switch to 114 and 113 respectively with the Enterprise 1784 business line.

Lords Acre Harvest Festival Opens Saturday in Clemons Building
The Second annual Lords Acre Harvest Festival, sponsored by the First United Methodist Church, will run Saturday November 15 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Clemons building two blocks east of the square. Proceeds fund bake sale sandwiches pies and drinks plus a 5 to 7 p.m. barbecue supper with tickets at 1.50 for adults and 1 for children. Burglars Hit Local Firms In a Chain of Thefts
Burglars broke glass at the Golden Arrow Cafeteria and Schwartz Laundry last Sunday night then entered from inside. They took 72 dollars in small change, two cigars, and assorted candies from the Golden Arrow while the Schwartz Laundry lost 1.40 in change and an electric Coca Cola clock. Other sites entered include Hall's Laundry and Gore's Red and White vaults. Evetts Sinclair Station was damaged but showed no entry. Local officers say similar robberies occurred along a chain from Granbury to Brownwood.

Comanche Cowboy Qualifies for RCA Rodeo Finals in Oklahoma City
Fort Worth native Randy Magers, a Comanche rodeo star, has secured a spot in the RCA Finals in Oklahoma City December 6 14. He sits fifth in bull riding with 14307 in winnings after an $800 pay at the Cow Palace in San Francisco. Magers began in junior rodeos, rose through AIRA and NIRA, and rode for Tarleton State on the 1967 national championship team. He and his wife Sue Albin reside near Comanche two miles south, and he will be introduced to about 10 000 spectators as a Fort Worth native.

City Council Approves Comanche Gas Rate Increase
At the November 19 meeting the Comanche City Council approved Lone Star Gas Company’s rate increase. Hickey, manager, says the new rate takes effect December 1 and affects about 1650 customers with an average monthly residential rise of 1.52 dollars. The increase funds higher gas costs, property and equipment expenses, wages, interest rates, and taxes, marking the first major request since 1953.
