Powell murder conviction affirmed by high court in Texas
The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals upheld Arnold Powell’s murder conviction, defense claiming no reversible error. Powell, tied to R A Jackson’s June 24 1923 killing in Coryell county after a venue change from Coryell, worked with Jackson in a traveling picture show. The body was found roadside near Pearmere between Parmers and Pearl. Powell’s arrest came in San Antonio two months after the crime and after he had joined the army in Oklahoma.
