Schools plan Education Week observances countywide

County Superintendent H T Gantz says several county schools will observe Education Week with a mix of programs on different days. He proposes joint meetings next Friday night November 21 with two or three schools combining, featuring outside speakers. Miss Ida Daniel of Wilson invited a speaker for her school.

Outdoor Concert Closes to Large Town Crowd

A large crowd gathered Sunday afternoon on the courthouse lawn to hear the American Legion band directed by A J Campbell in the final open air concert of the season. Verdict in Coleman man slaughter case of Bob Collins

The jury in Coleman tried Bob Collins for the November 1922 killing of Claire May found him guilty of man slaughter and sentenced him to five years in the penitentiary. Collins, paralyzed from the hips, was brought to Comanche on change of venue after a long trial process. A motion for a new trial was filed.

Special to the Chief reports Zion Hill Sunday school with about seventy five pupils journeyed to Copperas Narrows on Cop peras Creek. They enjoyed a prepared dinner on the greensward and spent the afternoon exploring cliffs, the needle's eye, and rocks, praising the planning by the superintendent and staff.
