Double Wedding in Creamer Texas

Last Sunday Miss Isla Butler and Joe Hicks married at Rev Jasper Creamer home in Creamer Texas. Miss Butler daughter of Charles Butler and wife of this city and Miss Willie Rambo second daughter of Hugh and Mrs Rambo, with Millard McElroy and Mr Hicks forming two couples. The weddings were quiet as the couples drove to the minister's home for the ceremony. The couples come from prominent local families and are well regarded. Friends extend best wishes for their life together.

Study Club Raises Library Fund for Comanche School

The Study Club has collected 60 dollars for public school library books. About 30 dollars came from an entertainment led by Miss Grundy and another 30 from tea and candy sales at an art display. A committee of Miss Lucille Bruton Mrs J W Scurry and Mrs M K Witt will allocate the funds. Comanche High School’s library is praised as outstanding for a public school outside the city, largely due to women’s groups and civic support.

District Court Proceedings Summary

The district court dismissed several cases and granted others. Judgments for plaintiffs were entered in A L Allen v Presler and Dunlap v Walker and Wolman v Walker. Divorces granted in Johnson v Rose and Pitts v Killian with custody to defendant in Hall v Wall. The county welcomed new officials after elections on Tuesday and Wednesday. Stailey becomes county clerk with deputies Hardy Jones and James Graham. Nugent Durham outs as tax collector with deputy Byron Grainger. George Hulsey remains treasurer. John L. Peters elected tax assessor. Joe Miller as sheriff. Bob McCampbell as county attorney. Mrs. J. E. Deely as school superintendent. Judge J. H. McMillan reappointed as county judge. Artie Lloyd district clerk. E. R. Armstrong as surveyor. Bonds approved. next court names Nabers, Seay, Shockley, Lightfoot.

Armenian relief drive appeals to Comanche County

Comanche County raises funds for Armenian and Syrian relief aided by Red Cross and missionaries. A Christmas ship from the United States government is expected to carry food and clothing around December 1. The county plans a mass meeting and asks churches schools and organizations to help publish and donate through local treasurers and the Armenian relief committee.
