Fleming Lodge honors Uncle John Pettit on 80th birthday

The Flem ing Masonic Lodge hosted a picnic and stew in a grove near the Pettit home to honor Uncle John Pettit and Aunt Catherine on his 80th birthday. A large turnout of Masons and families shared baskets and a feast, praising Pettit's leadership in Comanche County and his roles in local lodges.

Comanche Opens Turkey Killing Plant

Comanche added another feather to its cap as Floyd Carpenter installed a turkey killing plant at his produce house on Wednesday. The plant will kill pluck and pack turkeys for cold storage and freezing, creating jobs and improving local produce prices.

Egberts Open New Boarding House

Miss Bessie Egbert and Mrs Lester Davis open a new boarding house in the Thadberg home near the high school. The Egberts are known in the hotel and boarding house business and claim the house is among the best in the city adding to Comanche's growing list of eating houses.

Ardis Sells Jewelry Store to Reese and McCarty

Wednesday H L Ardis sold his jewelry store to Wm Reese and Jud McCarty. The firm will be Reese and McCarty and operate within Reese Drug Store. McCarty is a renowned watch repairer and jeweler. Reese is a well known Texas druggist who previously owned this department.

Guinn House Passes To New Manager

The Guinn House boarding house changes hands with Mrs. Guinn renting to Mrs. Holden. Mrs. Guinn ran the establishment 15 to 20 years and was famed for hearty meals and good treatment of boarders. Mrs. Holden brings a strong three year record from the Gammage House and is expected to maintain its popularity.

Gun Club Shoot Awards Smith Medal To J J Helmsley

In the weekly gun club shoot J J Helmsley won the Smith medal by hitting 8 of 10 rocks. He beat George Montgomery M A Finger Pat Kelley R H Baxter Howard Kilpatrick and Hart Shoemaker. Jim D Slack posted the high preliminary score with 13 of 15.

Mrs. John Isaacs Buried Saturday in Sidney

Mrs. John Isaacs who died at the family home in Beaumont was buried Saturday at Pendergrass cemetery in Sidney. She had lived most of her life in Sidney and was well known there, with friends and relatives extending sympathy to her husband and children.

A Comanche good roads committee led by J. Carter and W. Carpenter visited Proctor to advocate the Proctor Hasse road as a link in the National Atlantic to Pacific Highway. Local committees from Proctor Hasse Logan's Gap and Comanche will meet the Commissioners Court next Monday to continue planning the county link.
