Comanche County shows Kennedy Johnson ticket ahead overall with 1 981 votes to 1 827 for Nixon Lodge. Local precincts split with Nixon Lodge carrying De Leon and several rural boxes while most other boxes favor Kennedy Johnson. Nationwide turnout estimated at 66 million with Kennedy Johnson securing 337 electoral votes to Nixon Lodge 185. Local proctor dam project advances as advance bids expected mid November on first major construction for Proctor Dam and Reservoir on the Leon River eight miles northeast of Comanche.

Two Gustine Laborers Injured in Auto Train Crash

Two Gustine laborers John B. Mathis aged 54 and Rex Mathis aged 30 were injured when their car struck the rear coach of a passenger train as it pulled away from Comanche depot around 12:30 am Sunday. The crash occurred on State Highway 16 near the Comanche railroad crossing with red signal lights. Both men were taken to Blackwood-Mims Hospital in Comanche for treatment.

The White Point Club will hold a rummage sale on Saturday November 12 in the old Chief Building. Mrs. Robert Eaton heads the sale and promises bargains galore.

Autumn Hospitality flower show displays at J. Vasco Lee home

Comanche Garden Club held its fall show at the J. Vasco Lee residence on November 5. Thirty artistic arrangements by club members filled five downstairs rooms, with three commercial displays from local florists in the entrance hall. Hort iculture specimens were shown across the street at the First Methodist Church. Mrs. James Wilkerson led the event as show chair, with a full committee and out of town judges. Mrs. Darrell Smith won the tri colored ribbon for the top artistic arrangement. Continued on Back Page.

Ten Comancheans Named to All-District Band

Ten members of Director Jack King's Comanche Indian Band earned First All-District Band honors at Cross Plains competition among 25 bands and 234 musicians. The Cross Plains event featured an 80 piece first band, 80 piece second band, and 74 piece third band with performances Saturday night.
