Winters air conditioner firm sold to capitalists in Comanche region
The Winters plant founded in 1914 by Rufe Higginbotham grew to employ over 150 and produce more than 25 000 air conditioners by 1955. It was sold last week for about eight million dollars to a group led by Bill West of Lubbock. The move shifts manufacturing to a nearby group of investors while Comanche firms continue servicing Texas and surrounding states.
