In Comanche County only 403 votes were polled across two boxes versus about 1300 in the July primary. W Lee O Daniel led for Governor with 400 votes. the constitutional amendment passed 127 to 68 in Comanche, while Democratic nominees swept local offices. Republicans made gains nationwide as Democrats held majorities in both houses.

The Comanche Volunteer Fire Department asks residents to donate toys for needy local children. Toys needing repair or repainting can be brought to the fire station for repair by firefighters before Christmas. Highway 36 Contract Let From Gustine To Macksville
The State Highway Department announces a contract for constructing Highway No. 36 from Gustine to Macksville including a Leon River bridge. The project is expected to cost about 60 thousand dollars and will be let on November 18.

Peanuts Bought At Local Market Reach New High
About 700000 pounds of peanuts were sold here this week pushing total county sales near nine million. J. W. Carter Sr. of the Southwestern Peanut Growers Association has bought over 3000000 pounds and will close 1938 buying next week with plans to store 4000000. The 1938 crop is the largest ever in Comanche County, making it the top peanut county in the state.

Five Bales Cotton Won On 22 Acres Near Comanche
Jake Fielder produced five bales of cotton from a 22 acre patch three miles east of Comanche. He attributed the good yield to a single pest poison treatment and unusually fertile land, noting yields were better than average though not perfect.

Band Mothers Cake and Pie Sale Next Thursday
The Band Mothers Club of Comanche High School will hold a cake and pie sale at the Old Majestic Theatre building on Thursday November 10 for the band fund. In addition to cakes and pies, candy and other food will be sold. Paint turpentine and linseed also available at Milpatrick's Hardware Store.
