Twenty Five Firms To Remain Closed Here Saturday Armistice

Comanche firms sign a petition to stay closed all day Saturday for Armistice Day as many stores plan limited hours while a Dublin Comanche football game at 2:30 p.m. headlines the afternoon. Several shops will open Friday night or Saturday afternoon, with key firms listed as remaining closed part of the observance.

Schools Shift Start And Dismissal By Thirty Minutes

City schools will start 30 minutes later and end 30 minutes later for lunch and end of day. High School opens at 9 21 replacing 8 51 and noon dismissal moves from 11 51 to 12 21. Afternoon dismissal shifts from 3 40 to 4 10 with the same 30 minute change in Grammar and Ward Schools.

Indians Fall to Mavericks 15-0 in Tough Road Loss

Eastland Mavericks defeated the Comanche Indians 19-0 to clinch at least a tie for the title as Gann and Young powered the visitors. Comanche showed stout defense with Hicks Edwards Mazurek and Brooks leading the line, while Armstrongs pass to Killian was the lone Indians’ gain in Mavericks territory.

Stores to Remain Open Tonight in Armistice Observance

Comanche stores, especially those planning to stay open Saturday night, will remain open tonight observing regular Saturday closing hours. Many farmers busy with crops during the day are expected to arrive tonight to take advantage of merchants late closing.

Early High Longhorns Meet Sidney Eagles For Top District Showdown

The undefeated Early High Longhorns visit Sidney Eagles in a key District Class BA showdown at 2 p.m. Both teams have only a scoreless draw this season. Sidney has won three of four games. Comanche County Bridders defeated Blanket 20-0, Comyn 13-0, and Brookesmith 26-0.

Democrats Sweep State and Nation in Roosevelt Victory

President Franklin D. Roosevelt won a fourth term in the general election, leading in 35 states with 413 electoral votes to Dewey's 118. Roosevelt carried Texas with 686,266 votes to 160,460, as minor party votes pushed totals toward 1 million. Both Texas constitutional amendments were adopted.

Singers Meet at Stephenville in County Event

All Comanche County singers are invited to a big sing at Stephenville City Recreation Building on Thursday night November 16. Ernest Rippetoe says a new $4,000 sound system will be used for the first time and leading singers and quartets from the territory will attend. He hopes all 3,500 seats are filled.

J W Butler recently underwent an operation in a German hospital and was brought home last weekend. Rev A B English of Ranger visited Comanche on Monday. Walter Durham, formerly critically ill in a Fort Worth hospital, is reported to be improving.

Comanche County aims to reach an $410000 Sixth War Loan Drive with a Series E portion of $180000. Rev E G Gregory Jr of First Baptist Church aids the War Finance Committee visiting precincts as farmers with harvest money buy bonds. Roosevelt Dominates Comanche County in General Election

Comanche County cast about 3800 votes on Tuesday November 7 with President Roosevelt carrying the county by wide margins. Roosevelt led in Gap with all 26 votes. Comanche showed 824 for Roosevelt 308 for Republicans and Texas Regulars. 109 for Dewey and 199 for Regulars. Amendments in Comanche tallied Municipal Pension Plan 678 for 739 against and State Pension Plan 609 for 781 against. County Tax Reallocation 686 for 554 against.

Comanche Indians meet Dublin Lions Saturday afternoon in the annual Armistice Day football clash at 2:30. Comanche, seeking revenge after last year’s 79-0 loss, faces a strong Dublin club that has dropped only to Eastland and De Leon. Family News From Houston to Amarillo Transfer

Liz and Mrs Chari and children Edwin and Lyn fame in Saturday from Houston Tt. Wetzel went on to Amarillo where he is being transferred from Ellington Field Houston where he was stationed for more than a year. Mrs Wetzel and children are visiting her parents Mr and Mrs J G Wilkerson.

Pvt Tom Maples Wounded in Action in France

Pvt. Tom Maples 24 son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Stevens now of Fort Stockton formerly of Comanche has been seriously wounded in France according to War Department reports. He has been overseas about two months and was injured October 24 later moved to a base hospital in England. He has two brothers in service.
