White of near Gustine bought 3814 acres and planted peanuts. After marketing nuts hay and expenses, he cleared twice the $2400 cost plus $7 per man, with a peanut crop yielding 36 bushels per acre, a year Comanche has not seen in many years.

Sellers Thomas of Austin, son of the late Sidney Thomas, is hailed as a standout college man. A Phi Delta Theta member and Rattler, he led several social events and served as president of the German club. he starred as a baseball pitcher and tennis letter winner, now named assistant tennis coach due to athletic ineligibility.
The National Red Cross will furnish Christmas boxes to every soldier in training. Comanche County Chapter has a quota of two hundred boxes and already over seventy dollars, plus fruit cakes and candy, have been promised.
The Presbyterian church ladies' aid presented a donation to the Itasca orphanage last week. The gift included a well-filled box and a silver offering.

Comanche High School will host Ballinger High School for a football game at Comanche on Saturday November 10 at 3 30 p m. The Comanche team showed strong form in the Brownwood game and is expected to draw a large home crowd. Ballinger is described as a fast team that has beaten every foe in its section.
Lieutenant J D Miller has been assigned to the 111th Engineers at Camp Bowie. He was among the first to receive a commission and will likely be sent to France soon as troops prepare for front duty.
