Armistice Program at Comanche High School

An Armistice program will be held at Comanche High School on Tuesday morning November 10 at 8 45. Directed by Mrs R S Walker the event titled Armistice Echos features children from all three schools with wartime songs drills and a one act play.Members of the American Legion will be honor guests with reserved seats and special Armistice ceremonies. The public is invited to attend.

Movement of Turkeys Starts Slow

The turkey movement began slowly on opening day at Comanche with under a hundred birds sold. Manager George McKinzie of the local dressing plant expected sales to rise next week. No. 1s were twelve cents, down from fourteen cents last year. old toms fetched eight cents and No. 2’s six cents. The plant’s recent upgrades make it among the state's largest.

Comanche High School Indians face Hamilton High Bulldogs this afternoon at the local park for their fourth conference game of the season. Last season Hamilton defeated Comanche 18 to 6 in the District Championship race.

District Court disposes of thirty civil cases in two weeks

A near record was set by District Judge Joe F Hidson as the District Court disposed of thirty civil cases in the first two weeks of the present session. Many major cases were compromised out of court, withdrawn at the plaintiff's request, dismissed by the judge, or went to trial without a jury in a civil case.

Joe Huddleston Wins Prizes at Two County Fairs

Joe Huddleston, son of Mr and Mrs Harry Huddleston of Duster, earned third place and a premium of 5.00 for Deneo Yellow Dent Corn at the Dallas State Fair. He previously won first place and 1.00 at the Comanche County 4-H Fair in De Leon for his corn.

About 172 teachers met at Comanche for the annual Teachers Institute as state Superintendent S M Marrs urged thorough study of school taxation. He outlined that 27 million dollars is needed for education from natural resources, gasoline, cigarettes, and a cigarett e tax. Oscar J. Rea recently of Houston moves to Comanche to manage the Comanche Milling Company. He will be associated with Mrs. Hoff in carrying on the business along the same general plan as Mr. Hoff. Rea moved to Houston four years ago from Clifton where he ran a large mercantile business for about twenty five years.
