O. B. Rose, Superintendent of Gastine Public Schools, elected Director General of the Omehe County Interscholastic League at a County Institute meeting last Friday. Officers chosen include S. Ross of Comyn Director of Declamation, I. Singletong Newbury Director of Debate, W. Z. Compton De Leon Director of Athletics, and others for Rural Schools, Spelling, Girls Athletics, Singing, Music Memory, Art, Essays, Extemporaneous Speaking, Play Ground Ball, and Tennis.
An Armistice program will be held at Comanche High School on Tuesday morning November 10 at 8 45. Directed by Mrs R S Walker the event titled Armistice Echos features children from all three schools with wartime songs drills and a one act play.Members of the American Legion will be honor guests with reserved seats and special Armistice ceremonies. The public is invited to attend.
The turkey movement began slowly on opening day at Comanche with under a hundred birds sold. Manager George McKinzie of the local dressing plant expected sales to rise next week. No. 1s were twelve cents, down from fourteen cents last year. old toms fetched eight cents and No. 2’s six cents. The plant’s recent upgrades make it among the state's largest.
Comanche High School Indians face Hamilton High Bulldogs this afternoon at the local park for their fourth conference game of the season. Last season Hamilton defeated Comanche 18 to 6 in the District Championship race.
J. H. Arthur has taken over the Goodyear Tire Agency and moved the business from the Comanche Motor Building to Gulf Service Station No. 2 operated by A. PD. Barnes. Arthur, formerly with the Ford Company, will handle tires and parts for Ford customers.
A near record was set by District Judge Joe F Hidson as the District Court disposed of thirty civil cases in the first two weeks of the present session. Many major cases were compromised out of court, withdrawn at the plaintiff's request, dismissed by the judge, or went to trial without a jury in a civil case.
The Comanche Indians meet Brownwood High School Lions for the Armistice game at Daniel Baker Field at 1 P M on November 11. Comanche seeks its first win over Brownwood since 1927 while Brownwood, after early season victories over Brady Santa Anna and San Saba, has not won on its Class A schedule.
Joe Huddleston, son of Mr and Mrs Harry Huddleston of Duster, earned third place and a premium of 5.00 for Deneo Yellow Dent Corn at the Dallas State Fair. He previously won first place and 1.00 at the Comanche County 4-H Fair in De Leon for his corn.

About 172 teachers met at Comanche for the annual Teachers Institute as state Superintendent S M Marrs urged thorough study of school taxation. He outlined that 27 million dollars is needed for education from natural resources, gasoline, cigarettes, and a cigarett e tax. He warned that a proposed homestead tax exemption up to 3000 dollars would shift school funding to other sources.
Ernest Tupin leased the T. P. Filling Station No. 1 at the southeast square corner and took charge Monday. He has just returned to Comanche from Dallas where he worked at service stations for about two years.
Oscar J. Rea recently of Houston moves to Comanche to manage the Comanche Milling Company. He will be associated with Mrs. Hoff in carrying on the business along the same general plan as Mr. Hoff. Rea moved to Houston four years ago from Clifton where he ran a large mercantile business for about twenty five years.
Daniel Baker Park Brownwood site hosts the Annual Armistice Day football clash at 1 40 PM. Indians chase victory as they follow their lead to the field in a brisk matchup.
Paul McCarty stands on murder charges in Carlton home death of his father J F McCarty. District Attorney Tom Robinson sought the death penalty as evidence showed demands of up to 5000 dollars and threats over loan money. Defense cites insanity and alleged spousal relations to explain motive. Jury completed after days of voir dire. 12 jurors named. McCarty appeared composed, interacting with his wife and infant during proceedings.
