Doctor Dies in Sunday Automobile Wreck
Hicks Martin Jr., 44, was killed Sunday afternoon when his automobile left the road and plunged over an embankment near a highway overpass about 22 miles south of Brownwood. R. D. Forsythe Zephyr, riding in the car, was injured with a crushed chest and cuts.

Ernest Clark Dies At Home In County
Ernest William Clarke, 32, son of Mr and Mrs W 8 Clark of Mercer Gap, died at his parents home October 28 after 26 days of illness. Funeral at Taylor's Chapel Cemetery October 29 with Rev F A Jones and Rev B C Slate officiating. Born September 1 1905 in Comanche County Gum Springs, he lived in the county most his life, with three brothers Cecil, Charles and Fred. He was a member of the Congregational Methodist Church at Taylor's Chapel.

The Post Office collects supplies and instructions for a nationwide census of the unemployed. A questionnaire card is to be placed in post office and rural route boxes on November 16. Mrs. R. M. Haynie Dies At Hasse
Mrs. R. M. Haynie 69 wife of a well known Hasse farmer died at her home near Hasse on October 31 after illness. Funeral services were held at Sardis Cemetery Monday with Rev. R. L. Bowman and Rev. H. J. Sanders. Born April 3 1868 in Good Hope Alabama she married R. M. Haynie December 20 1887 and they had five children four survive. The family moved to Hasse in 1907. Surviving are husband three sons Macon H. Haynie of Santa Barbara California Clinton C. Haynie of Hasse and L. M. Haynie of Kilgore one daughter Mrs. Willie Greenlee of Hasse eleven grandchildren three brothers H. H. Macon Quitman R. Macon Proctor W. H. Macon Montgomery Ala and two sisters Mrs. W. A. Wagner Komanche and Mrs. R. W. Newman Proctor along with several nephews and nieces.

Kin Cunningham 65 died in Goree Texas at five a m October 31. The body was brought to Comanche for funeral services and interment followed at Newburg Cemetery with Rev Gordon Barrett officiating. Survived by three sisters four brothers and several relatives. He was born and raised in Comanche County and was connected with the Texas prison system and later a member of the Texas Rangers.

Carrie Buckler a longtime Comanche County resident died October 16 at her Gustine home after six months of illness. Funeral and burial followed in Union Cemetery near Gustine. Born March 8 1872 in Grenham Texas she moved to Comanche County as a child and married James C. Buckler January 31 1892. Five children Roy Dee Thelma Claude and Mrs. Fred Adcock survive with her husband and siblings. She joined the Christian Church at fourteen and remained active until death.

Jury still out in one Jeske trial and new case begun
The Comanche Grammar School hosts a Story Bookland program on November 16 at 7 30 p m with about forty children portraying characters. Proceeds fund new library books. The larger story concerns the Jeske case, where the jury remains undecided after deliberating 10 to 2 on charges of accessory to burglary in the mohair theft from Dr Gray’s ranch. Layman testified he helped steal mohair and sold it to Jeske for 25 cents a pound, with payments totaling about $93. The trial also covers a second charge of accessory to burglary in the wheat theft from the Chilton barn, and a third indictment for mohair theft from the Albin warehouse. The judge urged the jury to continue deliberations.

The Thanksgiving turkey market opened yesterday with good birds bringing 14 cents per pound, two cents above last season’s opening price. Turkeys are of good grade and a strong first-day run was received. Local buyers aim for high prices and expect a big run.
Sidney Cage Teams Open Season With Wins Over Proctor and Sipe Springs
