Turkey Market Breaks One Day Record in Comanche

Tuesday November 1 marked the largest turkey opening day in Comanche history with buyers reporting about 29 300 pounds marketed that day. Dressings and shipping plants were busiest since the season began and expect to stay crowded as raisers compare turkey profits to cotton income. Last week 87 900 pounds were bought at steady 25 cents with hens about 10 pounds and toms 15, showing 50 turkeys worth more than a bale of cotton.

One Potato To Feed 33 People

Thirty three people will be served at the Comanche Lions Club bi weekly luncheon with a single large sweet potato each. Wade Everidge donated three potatoes from his 25 acre patch including an 11 pound, a nine pound and a seven pound specimen. Auditor predicts recovery of misused county funds

W G Hill of the W G Hill Auditing Company Austin presented to the Comanche County commissioners a final report covering 1923 through 1926. Auditors found three accounts with a total discrepancy of 1038.31 in favor of the county. The report notes overpayment of 365.00 to Hanover National Bank and 461.00 due from depositories. bonded indebtedness totals 407,392.00. The court praised county officers and concluded affairs are in capable hands.
