Veterans Land Amendment On Ballot For Statewide Sale
The proposed amendment would authorize selling about 10 000 land tracts to veterans with as little as 10 percent down and 40 years to pay. Tracts range from 50 to 2 500 acres, with a cap of 5 000 dollars per tract. It calls for a bond up to 25 million dollars to buy 2 400 000 acres from the federal government and add them to state lands.

Heavy Turkey Movement To Market From Comanche
Comanche reports a brisk movement of turkeys with over 150 000 pounds of dressed birds shipped from the local plant in the last twenty days. Peanut Crop In Second Week Of Heavy Movement
Comanche County peanuts enter the second week of heavy market movement with over 6,000,000 pounds weighed locally. On Tuesday a record 750,000 pounds were weighed, and weekly receipts stay above 500,000 pounds. Sidney Plans Homecoming on November 27

Earl H Smart Dies in Accident Near Houston
Former Gustine resident and UT Austin student Earl Henry Smart was killed when a truck struck his vehicle while he repaired a roadside tire near Houston. The driver fled, no arrest reported. Services at Gustine Baptist Church. Interment Union Cemetery. He was born 1925, served in World War II, and is survived by his wife Ona and his parents.
