Comanche Cavalry to Be Mustered Next Week

The Comanche Troop of Cavalry led by Mr Ossie Greene will be mustered into the National Guard Service next week likely Tuesday or Wednesday. They will then be mustered into Federal service after assembling at Camp Mabry in Austin within about two weeks. The troop has its minimum number and is recruiting to exceed it before call up.

Work to Resume on Downing Well in Comanche County

The Brownwood Bulletin reports a contract for a 3500 foot deep test well near Downing in Comanche county 12 miles north of Comanche on the Z Hulsey tract. M T Smith & Son will drill with a standard rig after a prior 640 foot session by Strawn Schueler and others.

Revival Gains Steam in Methodist Meetings

The Methodist revival begun Sunday morning grows in town interest. Rev. J. A. Old, a strong preacher, brings messages benefiting the town. Rev. I. T. Huckabee leads the singing. Other churches cooperate. Christians are stirred toward deeper consecration and the unsaved show interest. Services 10:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church.

Road Bond Election Rescheduled to July First

A July 1 road bond election replaces the June 15 vote for Comanche and De Leon precincts due to a legislative change. New law limits bonds to 30 years, forcing a fresh election and petitions for the issuance of 30-year bonds. The court ordered the July 1 election after lawmakers updated the bonds term.

The Local Board sent 65 men to Camp Bowie for training on the 8:45 train under Captain Irvin Warren. Names include Irwin Warren and many correspondents listed, with two men on the same train sent to Camp Travis: F. T. Munn and Willie Phifer.

Red Cross auction nets neat sum for chapter

An auction sale last Saturday raised 278.49 for the Local Red Cross Chapter. Highlights included a 24 pound sack of flour sold for 135.00, donated foods, and subscrption to The Fort Worth Star Telegram. An upcoming sale on First Monday plans ten sacks of flour and more items.
