Comanche FFA 4 H Rodeo Plans Set for June Event

Plans are set for the second annual Comanche FFA and 4-H Rodeo to be held at the Comanche Rodeo Arena next Thursday through Saturday June 9 10 and 11. The event is sponsored by the Comanche Rodeo Club with participants invited from Early Zephyr Sidney Comanche Gustine Mullin Blanket Goldthwaite Pottsville Priddy Indian Gap and Hamilton. Nightly events include crowd entry reining bull riding barrel racing goat milking calf riding calf roping and bareback bronc riding. Admission is 25 cents for students and 50 cents for adults. Proceeds will fund improvements to the Junior Livestock Show Buildings.

Comanche County’s Stag Creek showcases progress with a two hour tour in the Texas Community Improvement Progress Program the largest turnout yet and a bid for the state title. Absentee ballots cast as runoff election looms in Comanche County

A total of 58 absentee votes had been cast by Wednesday afternoon as Comanche County voters prepare for the June 4 runoff. The county faces races for Tax Assessor-Collector, Commissioner Precincts No 1 and No 3, Constable Precinct No 1, and a statewide Judge of the Court of Criminal Appeals. Babe Scott appears on the Constable Precinct No 5 ballot as a sole name after a May 7 write in. County Democratic Chairman D F Caraway urges full turnout, though officials expect about 1,000 to 1,500 fewer votes than the 4,200 polled in May.

Memorial Day Observed as Holiday in Comanche

Comanche will observe Memorial Day next Monday May 39 as an official holiday. This is one of six approved holidays for 1969 voted by Comanche merchants. Most firms will be closed all day.

District Winner Sarah Lou McCullough Earns 4-H California Trip

Sarah Lou McCullough daughter of Mr and Mrs Gayle McCullough of the Newburg community won a ten day educational trip to California as district winner in the 4-H Cooperative Result Demonstration Program. She also received a $25 savings bond and will join twelve other district winners August 4 in Amarillo before departing August 5 for San Francisco and Berkeley aboard a chartered bus sponsored by Producers Grain Corporation of Amarillo.

Comanche Pool Opens Saturday At Lake Eanes Park

The Comanche Swimming Pool at Lake Eanes Park opens this Saturday for the 1960 season. It operates daily afternoons and nights through the summer with 25 cent children and 35 cent adults admission. Kenneth McNutt will be lifeguard and Mrs. Roy Nelson runs the concession, as park improvements include new picnic tables and benches.
