Work starts on Federal Housing Project in Comanche

Construction of the 249600 dollar 30 unit Federal Housing project began Tuesday in Comanche between E College and E Walcott Aves eight blocks east of N Austin St. the project aims for completion by February 18 1961 with brick veneer units including four bedroom two 3 bedroom and eight one bedroom homes. Herbert Goodson heads the project with Texas A&M extensions listing and the Comanche Housing Authority board.

Comanche Jaycee Carnival Opens This Week

The second annual Comanche Jaycee Carnival runs Thursday Friday and Saturday in Comanche Square with rides booths and games including a dunking tank and a treasure chest giveaway. Free tickets are available from local merchants for drawings each night with prizes a polaroid camera a power lawn mower and a television set. Proceeds support the Jaycee Community Improvement fund funding a new concession stand and announcer’s booth at the Little League Ball Park and a summer recreation program with the Chamber of Commerce and Lions Club.

Proctor Club Enters Rural Progress Contest for 1960

Fifty residents gathered Tuesday May 10 at the Proctor Community Center as the Proctor Neighborhood Progress Improvement club voted to enter the 1960 61 Rural Progress Contest. Bert Beaty was elected president with T A McDonald Jr vice president Mrs Bert Beaty secretary treasurer and Hewel Croft reporter. Paul Bradley John Lee and Fred Rackley form the finance committee.
