Community program and old fashioned basket lunch planned Sunday at Sardis Cemetery in Pe County. Anges Hasse leads a renewal of family ties with a light program and a large turnout expected from Comanche and surrounding areas.
Comanche High School Gym hosts a boy’s basketball fund event Friday May 20 at 7 45 pm to aid the athletic department towel shortage. Coach Ray Smith seeks white or used towels as admission with plans for a strong look at next year’s squad. Stag Creek community praised as a top Texas improvement program by factors from Texas A M sponsorship.
Construction of the 249600 dollar 30 unit Federal Housing project began Tuesday in Comanche between E College and E Walcott Aves eight blocks east of N Austin St. the project aims for completion by February 18 1961 with brick veneer units including four bedroom two 3 bedroom and eight one bedroom homes. Herbert Goodson heads the project with Texas A&M extensions listing and the Comanche Housing Authority board.

The second annual Comanche Jaycee Carnival runs Thursday Friday and Saturday in Comanche Square with rides booths and games including a dunking tank and a treasure chest giveaway. Free tickets are available from local merchants for drawings each night with prizes a polaroid camera a power lawn mower and a television set. Proceeds support the Jaycee Community Improvement fund funding a new concession stand and announcer’s booth at the Little League Ball Park and a summer recreation program with the Chamber of Commerce and Lions Club.
Next week the CHS annual Senior Edition, The Chief, will highlight 46 graduates from Comanche High School with student editors Eldena Burks and La Jane Davis. Pictures and features, ads, and school news will appear, with requests for copy early in the week.
J. W. Moore, president of the Comanche National Bank, announces Miss Charlotte Carnes as a new staff member. She recently returned to Comanche from Fort Worth after completing a secretarial course at Rutherford Business School and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Pat Carnes of Sunset Hills Addition.
A gospel revival will open Monday night May 23 at South Side Pentecostal Church 910 S. Austin St Fort Worth preacher Rev. Royce Huffhines will deliver the sermon church officials extend a cordial invitation to all to attend and worship.
A group of 25 Comanche Junior High students toured Ken and Kay Rachels home near Stag Creek Saturday night for a farm visit featuring a hayride.
Fifty residents gathered Tuesday May 10 at the Proctor Community Center as the Proctor Neighborhood Progress Improvement club voted to enter the 1960 61 Rural Progress Contest. Bert Beaty was elected president with T A McDonald Jr vice president Mrs Bert Beaty secretary treasurer and Hewel Croft reporter. Paul Bradley John Lee and Fred Rackley form the finance committee. The entertainment committee includes Mrs Fred Rackey Mrs TY A McDonald Jr and Bill Evans.
Rush Creek Watershed Association will name officers and directors at a 7:30 p.m. meeting May 28 at the Soda Springs Community Center. President Dc. B. Williams Jr. and Vice President Henry Drennan lead the group. All interested in the Rush Creek Watershed are invited. refreshments will be served by the Soda Springs Community Club.
Betty Westfall was elected reporter and Wallace Reid named chairman of the recreation committee at a Hasse 4-H Club meeting. County Agent Angus Dickson Jr. attended and explained the county traveling 4-H Trophy program.
Mrs. Golda Foreman a recent graduate of Gary's Beauty College Brownwood announces the opening of Sunset Hills Beauty Salon located past the Sunset Hills Addition west section of Comanche on the Old Sidney Roar. Open house Monday 3 to 7 pm with refreshments and door prizes. salon offers hair shaping styling permanent waves manicures and more. Mrs Foreman has 250 hours training and recently won first prize in a hair styling contest at the State Bankers Convention in Fort Worth.
Twelve Sidney High School seniors are set to receive diplomas at Friday night commencement in Sidney. County School Superintendent Elza Brinson will give the keynote address. Valedictorian Christine Reed and salutatorian Mary Lou Hicks lead the class which includes Mary Lou Hicks Jan Caffey Jane Vineyard Christine Reed Johnny Crim Billy Abbey Jackie Besset Delton Woolsey Jack Clawson Larry Cheatham Larry Pinkard and Jesse Lee Abbey.
The county agent described the Sears Swine Program in which eight Hasse Boys are participating this year, highlighting involvement and local agricultural education.
