Tom Palmer Wins Texas Company Science Scholarship

Tom Palmer, 1957 Comanche High School graduate and son of Mrs. Pallie Palmer and the late Homer W. Palmer, has been notified of a Science Scholarship from The Texas Company to attend Baylor University. The grant begins September 1957, covers full tuition of 150 dollars per quarter plus books up to 50 dollars per quarter, and requires a major in a non biological science with renewal based on high grades.

Forging Spree Costs Merchants 325 in Comanche

Two 22 year old Comanche men and a 14 year old married woman were jailed after a weekend forged check spree netted 325 dollars from eleven local merchants. Billy Joe McDonald faces 11 forgery charges with bond set at 2500 dollars while a sister’s home in Waco helped locate him. The group forged checks using Floyd Brawley’s signature and spent the funds, including a car purchase for 100 dollars and a trip to McGregor.

Diplomas Awarded At Comanche High School Tonight

Fifty six seniors will receive diplomas at the Comanche High School commencement held at First Baptist Church instead of Indian Memorial Stadium due to rain. Principal Joe Harper announced the change. Lou Ellen Durham is valedictorian Jamie Oden salutatorian. The student participation program follows the ceremony begun at 8:00 p.m.

Mr and Mrs Eldred Wilson of Fort Worth formerly Comanche announce the birth of a son Rickie Ray on May 8 in a Fort Worth hospital. The baby weighed 8 pounds 3 ounces and is the grandson of Mr and Mrs H J Wilson of Comanche and Mr and Mrs Byron King of Palacious.
