Baccalaureate at Gustine Set for Sunday Night

Ed Palmer Joins Gustine Bank Board

Ed Palmer of Gustine has been elected to the Board of Directors at First State Bank of Gustine. Other directors include C. E. Leatherwood of Dublin as president, I. C. Willingham of Gustine as vice president and cashier, Eva Compton, and Wayne Adams. Palmer is a rural mail carrier and partner in the Gustine Mercantile Company.

Comanche High School Names Valedictorian for 1957

Lou Ellen Durham tops the 1957 senior class with a 96.2 average and serves as band member, Student Council vice president, Spanish Club vice president, and National Honor Society member. Jamie Oden headlines as salutatorian with a 96.35 average and two years as class vice president, co captain of the Indian football team, and NHS member.

Comanche aid flows to Lampasas flood victims

Comanche groups led by the Chamber of Commerce Red Cross and Salvation Army organized clothing and food relief for Lampasas flood victims. A van load from Choice Baking Company and a pickup from Durham Peanut Co were sent Tuesday with volunteers aiding cleanup. Cash donations over 200 were forwarded and laborers are needed at 1 per hour with bedding if staying overnight.

Atwood Hatchery Awarded Reserve Grand Champion

Atwood's Hatcheries of Comanche Texas won Reserve Grand Champion in the Texas Chick Poult and Egg Show held at Texas A M College. Ed Atwood's H N Nick Chicks were praised for vigor condition and rapid feathering with no point deductions. A & H Nick Chicks also earned a blue ribbon and high show placement among about 40 entries.

Senior speakers announced for May exercises

The article notes 94.6 average with ranking beside Lou Ellen and Jamie in game points. Tom is Pallie Palmer's son and Sue is the McGlothlins' daughter. both are active seniors in all activities. Sue led high-point in freshman and sophomore years and will join Lou Ellen and Jamie as May speakers.

Mrs. Jayne Harper Honored as Busy Comanche Citizen

Mrs. Jayne Harper wife of superintendent Joe Harper stands out as a busy talented Comanche figure. A sixth grade teacher in Comanche Schools she directs CHS Choral groups teaches voice expression before and after school and directs the First Methodist Church Choir. She led last year’s Comanche County Centennial Pageant and remains in demand across Comanche and surrounding areas as a soloist and teacher.
