Fairy Day at Comanche Jersey Show Crowns Champions

Comanche County Dairy Day saw Jersey cattle show with grand champion bull awarded to H A Helm of Comanche Jersey Farm De Leon and grand champion cow to R Kinnard Jersey Farm De Leon. Reserve champion cow went to Jan Franks Comanche. Results include 4 H and FFA judging scores and extensive class ribbons across female and bull divisions reflecting a strong county show.

Annual All Day Singing at Round Grove Sunday

The 33rd Round Grove all day singing will be held Sunday at Round Grove Church six miles northeast of De Leon in Erath County. Texan singers are expected including a quartet from Stamps Music Company of Dallas. County Judge Emmett Rippetoe of Comanche presides. the Round Grove Baptist Church was organized in 1871 by Judge Stippetoe’s grandfather Ross.

New Sunday School Class Formed at Comanche Church

Paul Whitton of First Methodist Church announces a new Sunday School class formed from the Cole Bible Class for couples over 35. Troy Marshall elected teacher with Pat Cagle president Vasco Lee vice president and Mrs. Paul Whitton secretary treasurer. All former Cole Class members in the age group urged to attend next Sunday at 10.00.

Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church Plans Annual Meeting Weekend

The Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church will hold its annual three day meeting this weekend. Services start Friday night and run through Sunday. The membership is urged to attend to elect a pastor and clerk with the public invited to each service.

American Legion to Decorate Veterans Graves on Memorial Day

Ex servicemen are invited to join the American Legion on Sunday May 25 at seven in the cemetery to place flags on veterans graves. Flags will be set in advance for Decoration Day Friday May 30 so decoration can be done during the week. Standstill on Comanche Vet Building Drive

Construction on the new Veterans Building in Comanche is at a standstill as fund-raising lags costs. Project about three-fourths complete at roughly $20,000, with $3,000–$4,000 still needed. Burns Fatal To Mrs J B Luker

Mrs J B Luker 35 native of Baggett died in San Antonio May 19 from burns suffered February 6 at her Kingsville home after cleaning fluid ignited. Funeral at Baggett Church with Rev Isham and Rev Graham. interment Baggett Cemetery. Mayor Waldrop the City Council and M E Jenkins announce that Jno Williams itinerant instructor from Texas A M College is conducting a District Water Works Short School in Comanche. Saturday May 24 marks Buddy Poppy Day in Comanche with VFW members and Comanche High School girls selling poppies to honor the dead and aid veterans families. J W Carters 12 month palomino quarter horse stud Caballo Sin Llano ran second in a class with over 25 entries at San Angelo Fifth Annual Horse Show the worlds largest. Comanche trainer Earl Albin believes with more handling it could win first. Colonel Royal King sire line noted and Bunny Babe owned by Albin won first at Fort Worth. Janie Adelle four months is ill with whooping cough and pneumonia in Brownwood hospital.

Dean E J Howell of John Tarleton College will be principal speaker at Comanche High School tonight for a graduation ceremony. Seventy one seniors will receive diplomas at 8:00. Howell, 46, born in Waco, holds BS and MS from Texas A M College and has served as Tarleton dean since 1945 after registrar roles at Tarleton and Texas A M.
