The State Department of Education awarded Comanche High School a new unit of affiliation in general Science, bringing total credits to 21.6. Superintendent W. G. Barrett said the grant was exceptional and cited inspector praise. Applications for shorthand and future plans for Spanish credit were discussed.
Three new picnic tables were installed at Lake Park this week. Two were donated by the American Legion and one by J. B. Allcorn.
A 1914 record surfaced showing R M Clift was charged by Q O Handley with speeding in Comanche on July 15 1914. City Attorney Gib Callaway filed the complaint alleging driving an automobile at more than eight miles per hour contrary to city ordinances and the peace and dignity of the city.
Delegations interested in the further development of Federal Highway 67 met in Stephenville yesterday. Judge and Mrs. W. T. House Mayor J. R. Eanes and President N. Ny Durham of the Chamber of Commerce represented Comanche. Delegates were served strawberries on arrival.
A glass showcase was placed in the High School halls by the Rector Cunningham Post of the American Legion to collect war trophies. J. B. Albcorn, Commander, said the effort aims to start a local school museum. Citizens may donate guns pistols swords and other war paraphernalia to County Superintendent R. S. Walker or City Superintendent W. G. Barrett. Names will be noted on each item and the display kept locked.
A pageant honoring the Women's Auxiliary birthday will be held at the local Presbyterian Church next Sunday evening May 24 at 7 45 under the direction of Mrs Carroll Black. Twenty characters participate in the pageant.
Howard Payne University will begin its summer session on June 1 and run through August 7. President Thomas H. Taylor said the program includes regular college courses and additional work toward grafting and extending teachers' certificates. The regular fall term starts September 7.

Comanche County earned two gold medals and 118 dollars in cash at the Heart of Texas Jersey Show in Dublin last week along with 25 dollars won by the Comanche Band. Floyd West led 4-H dairy winners, while Warren Crockett won in Vocational Agriculture. A Comanche team placed third in judging with a score of 708, close behind Brown and Throckmorton. Lois McGinnis and Rev. J. D. Smoot supported the county herd, Peggy Lou Myrtie and Fern Peggy Lou winning multiple divisions. Open class honors went to J. D. Simeon for Spotted Combination Sultana.
Miss Nathalie Jessup daughter of Mr and Mrs G W Jessup of 1018 Fifth Avenue will sail in June to Europe to study pipe organ under Vienne in Paris She will also be in Vienna for the International Rotary Convention and visit other European cities on the Westerland sailing with the Fort Worth Rotary delegation to attend the Vienna convention.

A Comanche youth, wanted on a misdemeanor theft charge, visited a jail inmate at feeding time Saturday as sheriff and deputy were away. Jailer's wife hesitated to close the doors and summoned City Marshall W A Pate who arrested the youth as soon as he returned. The prisoner posted a $350 bond and was released.
The Bowdoin Canning Company will begin operation Monday May 25 if berries are ripe. Paul Bowdoin will be at the plant Saturday to issue crates to growers.
S L Mull recalls buying a pair of shoes in 1910 from L E Grainger of Burks Mercantile Company that have lasted twenty one years. He reports three new soles and two new heels have been added, and the shoes remain in good condition for continued Sunday use.
