Aid For County Schools Announced
During the first week in May 9706 in transportation aid was apportioned to the various schools of Comanche County. This is the first payment on about 20000 approved for this county. It is estimated that about ninety percent of this will be paid. All State Aid funds are checked and approved by the State Department of Education, then by the State Auditor.

Howington Files Candidacy for 104th District House Seat
Frank Howington of Comanche authorized The Chief to place his name in the political announcement column as a candidate for State Representative from the 104th District which includes Comanche and Mills County. Howington grew up in Mills County and moved to Comanche about fifteen years ago to farm and raise poultry. He served Comanche County as District Clerk for two terms from 1930 to 1934 inclusive and plans to issue a statement on his views soon.
