W. Z. Compton principal of Comanche High School and director of vocational agriculture was chosen by the school board to become superintendent of the schools when Superintendent Bramiette retires July 1. County Schools Back Pay From 1937 38 Salary Aid Increase
Comanche County teachers under Superintendent Dale Howard will receive back pay of 2064 for the 1937-38 session from a new Texas Legislature appropriation. Five sisters gathered at the D. C. Dingus residence in Comanche for a reunion. Attending were Mrs. Dingus, Mrs. S. E. Hogan of Comanche, Mrs. S. McDonald of Indian Gap, Mrs. A. R. Lane of Santa Anna, and Mrs. Bink Brown of Hamlin. The annual meeting plans include July 14, 1949. Flower Show Planned at City Hall Annex May 27

Twenty eight Gustine area farmers attended a trench silo meeting at L. L. Allen's farm. W. I. Glass spoke on Extension work and E. R. Budaly discussed trench silo construction and operation, noting high local interest and plans to cut feed rather than bundle it. A community silage cutter and an ensilage cutting machine funded via Farm Security Administration will assist more farmers this summer.

A Beene Produce Company truck carrying ninety six cases of turkey and custom hatching chicken eggs burned early Thursday morning last week twenty miles from Pecos. The eggs valued over 800 dollars were en route from Comanche to California. the truck was insured but the load was not.
