Gleason to Use Comanche Pecans in Ice Cream
A deal closed last week has Gleason to use Durham Brothers Pecan Products in manufacturing its ice cream. Hico plants, leading ice cream makers in Central Texas, will use a large quantity of nuts this year. Durham Brothers of Comanche operates the region’s largest pecan shelling plant, enhancing reciprocity between Comanche and Hico established with a near year old sweet cream station.

Lamkin Stock Show At Closing Of Public School
Lamkin to host a stock show today marking the public school closing. County Agent J A Barton says features include a terse show and a baby beef and fat stock exhibit. Club boys and farmers from the area and other parts of the county will bring cattle for exhibition starting at 1 15. A judging contest pits club boys against their fathers with County Agent Mark Buckingham and Mr Kay of Dublin assisting Barton.

District Court Proceedings This Week
District Court convened on Wednesday and disposed of cases including J. T. Couch versus W. P. Couch a partition suit with judgement for plaintiff and a commission appointed to divide property. Iren Chaney versus A. C. Chaney a divorce was granted with custody awarded to the plaintiff. C. Capin versus P. L. Burks a damage suit went on trial.

City Sets 1920 Tax Rate
City Council at its regular meeting set the 1928 tax rates as 80c bond tax 25c street tax and 25c general fund, keeping the total at 1.30. The bond tax drops 5c while street tax rises 5c, leaving the overall levy unchanged from last year.

Prize Winning Sheep Show Delighting Whitville Group
Ed Sumner presented a herd of about 100 Rambouillet sheep near Whitville, aiming to build a premier registered flock in Central West Texas. The flock includes 60 ewes and 34 lambs with plans to end only registered Rambouillets, supported by Mrs Sumner in a 24 year sheep-raising record yielding consistent profits.

Anton Rauhut of Comanche won a $100 prize for the best comment in the Texas Law Review. Homer C. DeWolfe of Goldthwaite earned the $175 Vernon Statutes prize for the top contributor. DeWolfe, a June graduate, will practice law in Comanche and Mills counties and run for the Legislature after graduation. Desdemona resident Thomas Nabers visited Desdemona relatives with Los Angeles ties during the holiday week.
