Comanche High School Dedicates Service Flag Ceremony
The Comanche High School held a farewell 1918 class program and dedicated the Honor Flag and 143 star service flag honoring students in service with a gold star for Grady Cox. Local Junior Red Cross was praised for 100 percent service and the event featured readings, music, and farewell addresses by Principal J. B. Layne and staff.

J F Guinn Death Notice in Comanche Texas
J F Guinn died last Friday after years of illness and was buried Saturday at Oakwood Cemetery. Born near St Joe Missouri in 1840 he was 78 on January 5 1918 and married Mary Elizabeth Kemp in 1869. He taught school and later farmed having come to Texas in 1901 living near Comanche. He served in the Civil War on the Confederate side and left eight children and one grandchild. The family offers thanks for sympathy to the bereaved wife and children.

Pioneer Woman Mrs. Sumner Dies After Long Illness
Mrs. W. D. Sumner a Whitville resident for forty years died at home after months of illness. Born Mary Jane Hammond in Georgia January 19, 1845 she married W. D. Sumner January 27, 1867 and moved to Comanche county in 1875. Survived by husband and seven children Edgar, Walter, Mrs J. E. Deely, and Oscar Sumner, the funeral was held at Rock Church Cemetery with Rev. Newton officiating.
