Ex students from Comanche High School serve across the Army Navy Air Corps Marines Coast Guard WAVES and WACs with many in battle zones in the Pacific and Italy. Notable figures include Brigadier General George Fleming Moore and several casualties including Pilot Officer Jim Bob Lee and Pvt John David Milton. Lieutenant Marny T Mason Jr 25 is listed as missing in action after an April 11 air raid over Germany His B 24 bomber was among 64 missing in attacks on German industrial cities near Berlin Mason son of M T Mason Sr of Comanche Texas attended Rice University and Houston Dallas schools He is married with a wife expecting a child and his brother Owen Mason is in the South Pacific.

Rural Carrier Exam Applications Close May 19

Assistant Postmaster E W Sullivan announces that applications to take the rural carrier examination for Rural Route No 1 Manche will close Friday May 19. Forms offered at Manche post office. Applicants must be at least 18 with no upper age limit except retirement at 70. Salary about 300 dollars per month. Exams to cover duration of the post and six months.

CHS students elect in a first postwar style event the Most Popular Boy Neil Sprouse and Most Popular Girl Ruth Adele Moore along with Judy Williams as Smile Girl. Neil Sprouse, a senior slated to graduate May 19, has roots in Rule Texas and excels in athletics. Judy Williams, from Orona via CHS since 1941, is band rhythm section member and two year yell leader. Ruth Adele Moore, longtime CHS senior, is widely known, active in clubs and plays, and an honor graduate.
