O W Greene, Troop Commander, announces a new Texas Cavalry unit open to men aged 18 to 45. Draft-age volunteers may enlist and be fed eralized after mobilization. Training and home examinations precede federal service at Camp Mabry Austin.
Last Friday night the local I O O F and Rebecca Lodges marked the ninety ninth anniversary with a ceremony at the I O O F hall. WW Carroll led the opening ode with Mrs Carroll at the piano, Rev Wilkins offered prayer, then songs and speeches by W H Walker Grand Secretary of the State and Mrs Dora Alexander Grand Secretary Rebeccas of the State and Rev Wilkins. A Rebecca Lodge drill followed as music and songs punctuated the program, enjoyed by all present.
The Red Cross committee plans a county drive to raise a substantial sum. Officials note residents are more aware of Red Cross needs today than in the past and urge contributions during the campaign period.
On May 11 five men will be sent to Fort Sam Houston. The recruits named are L. W. Boynton A. McCain M. G. Herring C. N. Gibson and Wm. D. Walker. They will assemble on May 10 and be spirained at 8 42 on May 11.
Comanche County reports high rooster auction totals with listed figures 172,350 187,850 and 15,500 amid a feathered poultry event. Organizers highlight strong demand and crowd turnout for the famous old roosters.
The Comanche County drive for the Third Liberty Loan surpassed its $172,850 quota, reaching $187,850 on Friday and over $190,000 after Liberty Day. County and town committees, led by prominent citizens, organized wide support with strong turnout in Comanche, De Leon, and Sipe Springs. A countywide flag raising at 4 p.m. at the courthouse will honor the effort with Sgt. McCann as speaker.
The Comanche County Liberty Loan Flag will be raised Friday May 3 at 4 pm at the court house with ceremonies. Sgt. Paul D. Oakes will give an address, though the county has already surpassed its goal, the event draws a large crowd and promotes local unity and Liberty Loan support.
A new 7x7 cypress tank is offered at a bargain price. It has been set up and in use for about 380 days. Terms are described as easy by Higzinbotham Bros. & Co.

The Comanche local draft board dispatched 21 men to Camp Travis on Sunday aboard the 8:42 train via Waco. Listed are Rt. E. Harry Pt H L. Cox Kk. L. Mullins Mark Corby H. R. Horner Criss Caldwell L. Moore John J. Stone H. R. Short E. Howell Gordon O. Miller Jay Woods Db. E. Moore D. Stephenson P. BE. Smith B. B. Cantrell V. Stephenson Wm. E. Guyger I. E. Morgan H. Hayes Jnc. W. Walker and E. Mullins, with Mullins returning from New Mexico.
On Wednesday May 2, C. M. Hayes and Jack Reeves were sent to Fort Sam Houston via Frisco by Waco.
On May 7 four men will be sent to Fort McArther at Waco. They will be assembled at 2 p. m. on May 6 and depart at 8:42 a. m. on May 7. The men named are C. L. Bentley, W. D. Morrow, R. L. Mauldin and M. V. Helland.

A Thrift Stamp Drive will launch in Comanche county the week of May 12 to raise 50000 dollars. Postmaster M J Norrell of Santa Anna, under Louis Lipsitz, will supervise the campaign, oversee preliminary organizations, and return for the opening day. The drive closes with a street sale in Comanche on May 18 conducted by Norrell.
Comanche High School finished third in the mile relay at the eighth annual interscholastic track meet at A and M College, scoring two points. Greenville High won the relay, Hillsboro led the meet with first place overall, and Comanche reported an excellent time after returning Sunday.
Mr William G Brown and Mrs Ada Allen were quietly married Thursday afternoon by Judge J H McMillan in his office. The couple plan to move shortly to Ranger where Brown, an oil man, will establish their home.
