Registration For Rationing Books At All Schools

School officials announce dismissal days and request one family member register on the first day, May 4, with subsequent days May 5 6 or 7. Registration sites include Sabana Soda Springs Indian Mountain New burg Fairview and other listed schools. Four ration stamps assign one pound each in defined date ranges May 5 16 May 17 30 May 31 June 13 and June 14 27. Stamp 1 expires May 16.

Comanche Youth Wounded In Hawaiian Islands War News

Comanche sergeant Reginald Kelley Waggoner son of Rev and Mrs H E Waggoner in the Hawaiian Islands was wounded in an airplane crash on April 8 after leaving Comanche to rejoin service in December He is a sergeant in the Signal Corps of the Field Artillery. He previously trained in the Army and was employed at the Comanche National Bank.

Fifteenth Scrap Car Shipped From Comanche In War Drive

Scrap iron from Comanche continues to flow by truck and trailer as the fifteenth car goes out this week. The War Production Board directs accelerating scrap to war factories with a regional meeting at the Baker Hotel in Dallas Sunday May 3 to address moving waste metal and disposing of car bodies in graveyards. Patton Injured In County Road Scraper Accident

Billie Patton of Comanche suffered the loss of the index finger and a badly crushed left arm in a road scraper incident in Precinct 2 Tuesday morning. He remained in serious condition at a Dallas hospital, with amputation possible as doctors attempt to save the arm. R C Wiggins acted quickly to stop the machine after Patton’s glove caught in a cable.

Greene to Lead Navy Relief Drive in Comanche

A. Greene is named head of the Navy Relief Drive for the City of Comanche, with county chair Karl Shock stating the effort begins today. A committee will visit residents to seek donations, with a goal of 175 dollars for the relief fund. Comanche residents are urged to contribute.
