Record totals show fifteen fires causing $100 or more in Comanche during 1930 with eight overnight and seven daytime incidents. A Dr Neil wood structure burned for $300 at 10 am, a residence near H J R Gille burned at 10 am, two barns at $25 each burned in daylight, and eight grass or trash fires occurred during the day. Five fires so far this year caused $16,000 in losses, all between midnight and 4 am on separate weekdays, including two at 2:50 and one at 1:20.

County tax assessor G R Goosby lost 175 baby chicks when a poultry house burned on his farm a mile south of Comanche Sunday night at about eleven. Firefighters confined the blaze to the building. no insurance was carried. Goosby had just finished building the house and bought 875 white leghorn chicks, with 350 more ordered the next day.

Leslie Allen was arrested Saturday at Leon Briave by Sheriff Dwight Brightman and Turner Sanders and brought to Comanche on an alleged liquor charge before being released on a $1500 bond.
A third of a car of cotton seed shipped from Comanche to Fort Worth this week for exchange with seed from the Certified Seed Association. The exchange seed, along with seed bought by farmers in the area, will be shipped soon, said J. A. Barton, who noted that high quality seed from county farmers last year will improve the staple cotton. A considerable amount of seed was trucked from Gustine for exchange.
Mrs Elbert Scott of Brysonville died Wednesday afternoon at Central Texas Hospital Brownwood after a blood transfusion failed. Interment followed Thursday at White Point Cemetery at four o clock. Also noted is the birth of Alice Melba Wheat near Blanket on January 23 years ago and the family survivors including husband parents and four children. The notice appears among an August sales ad for horse equipment and knives.
Mesasre Callaway and Reese receive a judgment from the United States Supreme Court in the case of Charles Guyger and Dave Pinson versus The Rain Peanut Company. The verdict awarded $8,207.25 with origins in a 1924 filing. attorneys included Oscar, Callaway, Brean, Stone and Wade of Fort Worth.
Friends of R Barry in Co Manche announce his sale of Light and Power company holdings at Aransas Pass Rockport Valten Ages to Central Power and Light Company for just over 750000. Barry says he will stay in Aransas Pass and plans to visit the Philippine Islands and Europe after details close. He once served in the Federal Government Engineering Department at Mencia.
Pat Howard and the Comanche Orchestra performed at Central Christian Church in Hamilton for morning services during a revival led by Pastor Rev. Kenneth I. Smith. Joining the group were Maurice Hoffman J. Bo Dunny Nan Shelton Mrs. John A. Mahon Elizabeth Tate and Ruth Rowland.
Rain from a half to an inch fell across all parts of Co manche County Tuesday and Wednesday. Farmers say the season is ideal with a good grain outlook and yields may reach 75 bushels per acre for oats and 15 to 30 bushels for wheat barring rust or other pests.
Growers report pecan losses from 10 to 50 percent with estimates varying. Denny the 10 percent mark, Durham says at least half, and Johnson cites up to 76 percent. Berry crops show mixed results, with some farmers losing around 50 percent while others report little to no damage.

A bridge across the Colorado River on Highway No 10 at the Brown and McColloch county line was among the contracts to be let by the State Highway Commission on Thursday. Completion of Highway No 10 from Brownwood to the county line nears, and the bridge finishing will open the new route.
Walter B. Barrett sold 58 head of white face cows to the Iowa White Face Ranch for herd building. The cattle brought 41 dollars per head F.O.B. Hamilton, with Barrett retaining the calves.
