Sergeant R. C. Smith, 21, died early Monday March 15 in a auto crash 17 miles south of Lawton Oklahoma while returning from a weekend with his wife Lois Ripley at Comanche. He served in the National Guard, was a cook, and trained at Fort Sill Camp Bowie and Fort Sill. he was buried in Texarkana and survived by two brothers and three sisters.

Mark Brittain 33 son of Mrs C D Brittain of Lamkin is now a prisoner of the Japanese. He served in the United States Navy in the Philippine sector when the islands surrendered. He had been listed missing in action by the War Department since last March until last week when word came through the International Red Cross that he is being held as a prisoner of war by Japan.

Beverly Thomas to be buried in Oakwood Cemetery
Beverly Thomas son of the late Dr and Mrs L B Thomas of Comanche died in San Francisco this week. A wire from Rev Noel P Wilkinson brother in law to the deceased says the body will be brought home for burial in Oakwood Cemetery probably the first of next week.
