Carlton Bell will conduct a revival at Mercey Gap Baptist Church from March 27 through April 2, with services at Mercey Gap Baptist Church and related activities announced.
The Red Cross launches its 1955 drive in Comanche County under County Chairman Joe Waring with committees to be named and a county-wide campaign planned. National goal is 85 million. Comanche quota set at 2500. Father John S. Salberg and Mrs. J. H. Vance named local drive chairs for Comanche and De Leon. Waring notes upcoming appointments and urges volunteer cooperation.
Attorney General John Ben Shepperd loses a motion as District Judge Jack Roberts allows 50 cooperatives and Upshur Rural Electric Cooperative to remain as intervenors in the quo warranto suit. The case questions the right to serve 25 Gilmer area customers annexed to the city. Trial on the merits set for April 25.
Almost capacity crowds attend night services at the First Methodist Church revival led by Rev. Sidney Roberts with inspiring sermons. Early morning services at 7:00 a.m. in the redecorated banquet room include coffee doughnuts and milk. Rev. Wayne Danson leads the song services with special youth singing nightly. revival closes Sunday night as announced by Rev. Raymond M. Burton.
A new Ford Fairlane 4 Door V8 stolen Tuesday from Clemons Motor Co. was found abandoned Wednesday night in Rising Star with no damage. thieves broke a back window to enter the shop. They took $7 in small change and a license plate belonging to Jack Parker. Gas tanks from three cars were siphoned to fuel the Ford. Local officers Sheriff Wayne Swindle Deputy Dale Shoemaker and Texas Ranger Red Arnold investigated.
Ogden Fritts and Tom Wilson seek re election as trustees of the Van Dyke Common School district in the April 2 election and are unopposed on the ballot.
The Comanche Garden Club presents a book review at Central Christian Church on Thursday night March 31. Mrs Porter Franks will review Frances Gray Patton’s Good Morning Miss Dove starting at 7 30 pm. Admission is 50 cents for adults and 25 cents for students with tickets available from club members.

Five candidates John Jolink E W Cap Gleaton Cecil Fisher Tom Cox Jr and Garland Collins filed for three seats in the Comanche School district election on April 2. Voting will occur at a single box at City Hall with Beattie and Hasse district voters casting ballots in Comanche.
The Hasse Missionary Baptist Church announces a spring revival from April 1 to April 10 with services at 7 30 p m each night. Rev. E E Barber, the pastor, will preach.
Sunday School attendance in Comanche rose last Sunday above the prior week and well past 1,100, per reports to The Chief. The weekly feature lists church reports submitted to The Chief with contact for superintendents at No 216.
Durham L C Jake from Precinct 1 and Hanson from Precinct 3 filed for reelection to the County School Board for the April 2 election. No other candidates had filed. Other board members include H D McDearmon Pettit Precinct 2 A H Caraway De Leon Precinct 4 and A N Boyd at large.
The Comanche Garden Club will sponsor the Betty Crocker Meet Your Neighbor sale of Betty Crocker mixes at local grocers Friday and Saturday March 25 26. Grocers cooperate with General Mills and club members will be in stores this weekend with proceeds benefiting the club from Betty Crocker mix sales.
The Leon Valley Protective Association invites civic groups and residents to a guided tour of the proposed Proctor Dam Basin Friday March 25 departing 1 30 p m from Weaver Drug Store De Leon. The three hour excursion will review the lake site, dam location, and land owner parcels with a map on Section 2 and an enlarged copy posted at State National Bank in Comanche.
Six new directors were elected to two year terms on the Comanche Chamber of Commerce. Newly elected: Bill Dudney, Joe Waring, Ben Evridge, Earl Oden, Louis Harelik, and Dr. H. H. Galbraith. Hold-over directors are Bill Clemons, Adolph Proffitt, Joe Tupin, Wm T. Calhoun, Castle Ellis, and Pat Cagle. Retiring directors include Harrold Flemins, Bear McDaniel, James Wilkerson, Howell Cobb, Eddie Jones, and Ed Frensley.
Joe Byrd announces his candidacy for City Alderman of Comanche as a write-in. He explains late filing was due to circumstances beyond his control and asks for voters to support him in City Government.

The Soda Springs Community Club promotes a rural neighborhood TV show airing next Monday night March 28. The Humble Oil Company sponsors a program featuring a variety show from Soda Springs with entries by Soda, Hazeldell, Wilson, Stag Creek, and Amity. Music by Soda Springs youth and the Hillbilly Boys. Check your newspaper for time and station.
The Comanche Roping Club met at the courthouse on March 17 to set a barbecue for members and families and discuss admission for new members. Election of officers will follow the meal and plans include forming a palmetto polo team to compete with De Leon Blanket and nearby towns.
Mrs Tom Dudley of the Comanche Garden Club was elected district governor at a District 5 Garden Club meeting in Dublin. Mrs Armstrong Cox of Comanche was chosen as secretary. A singing convention will be held at Hazeldel on Sunday afternoon March 27 at 2 o'clock.
The Sidney FFA will present Red Fox and Fox Seven, a music and comedy program, Friday night at the Sidney High School auditorium.
