Sports Banquet Set For Monday March 30

The Comanche High School sports banquet is scheduled for Monday night at the Junior High School Cafetorium with an expected crowd of about 3500. The event will honor CHS athletes from 1963 64 including the football team of 63 the 64 bi district boys basketball champions and the Indian Maidens. Gene Babb Austin College coach and alumnus will speak. Babb lettered four years in football served as captain and played in the All Texas College team third year and was named to Who's Who. He began pro football with the San Francisco 49ers in 1957 then played for the Dallas Cowboys in 1960 and later joined the Houston Oilers retiring after 1963.

Redskin Relays Set for Comanche High Saturday

Comanche High hosts its first track meet in 25 years on Saturday March 21 with 10 teams including Penys Cisco Coleman Comanche Cross Plains De Leon Del Valle Dublin Early Gorman Granbury Gustine Hamilton Hillsboro San McGregor Mason and Sante allie. The schedule lists preliminaries at 1 60 pm and various sprint and hurdle events leading to finals, with CHS coach Roger Oliver predicting excellent track conditions after rain.

Comanche High Senior Play Hillbilly Wedding March 19 20

Comanche High School presents Hillbilly Weddin with opening night Thursday March 19 and a second show Friday March 20 at the high school auditorium. Tickets at the door with reduced children and volunteer prices. Cast includes Rodger Mes, Marsha Win, Jv Burton, Este Hallmark, Lou McCullough, Paula Johnson, Phil Cogburn, Freddy Chappell, Charles Wright, Jerry Foreman, Kay Rachels, Freddy Anderson, Ray Luker and several cousins. Proceeds help fund this year’s senior trip.

Peanut Acreage Requests Deadline Set for 1964

Peanut producers are reminded that April 4, 1964 is the final date to request extra acreage from the released total of 1981.0 acres. All farm operators with peanut allotments not to be planted in 1964 should call the ASCS Office and release such acreage by April 4.

Deadline Near for 1964 Feed Grain Program Signup

Comanche County ASCS Chairman William F. Bryant urges farmers to apply by Friday March 27 at the county office. The feed grain program covers corn sorghum and barley with a 20 percent minimum diversion and higher rates for larger diversions. Participants earn price support payments and may obtain loans or purchase agreements. Interest in 1964 participation is high and expected to match 1963 levels.

Blue Birds Camp Fire Girls and Horizon Girls mark Founders Day with Birthday Week March 22 28. Four registered groups led by Mrs Dur ham Mrs Schwartz Mrs Mercer Mrs England and others serve the local council with an executive board headed by Mrs Roy Bloyd and committees on program finance training publicity and camping.
