Wives parents or others sending The Comanche Chief to men in service are urged to report address changes promptly. Subscriptions for service members including overseas are $1.50 yearly. First overseas delivery often takes 4 to 7 weeks after entry. thereafter weekly copies depend on current address.
Proceeds from a hand stitched quilt by Comanche Troop No. 1 totaled over 150 dollars and were donated to the Red Cross. Williams delivered the quilt and the funds, with the Scouts thanking contributors and local leaders including Mrs. Roy Peace and Mrs. Walter Barret.
Coxswain Jackie Laughlin son of Mrs Irving Palmer of Comanche is home on twenty one day leave from the Pacific theatre after serving on an oil tanker. He has made three trips from the Panama Canal to Pacific ports in the past months and previously crossed the Atlantic to England Scotland and Africa. He praises New Zealand noting its modernity.
The Central Christian Church announces Bible School and Communion every Sunday at 10. An evening or mid week service is listed. The sermon for this Sunday March 19 will be What S Thy Life. The note mentions German children barred from church since 1933 and cites rising juvenile delinquency in America.
The 7th county singing convention will meet at Brooksmith Saturday and Sunday led by W. B. Huggins, the president. Members and participants are expected from surrounding counties to join in the event.
The Rev W B Gray will lead the regular third Sunday services at the Presbyterian Church next Sunday morning at 11 o clock The evening service at 8 o clock will present A Pilgrim s Song The Sunday school lesson is from Mark 6 47 Dr Gray also teaches the Ad Class during his stay

Deeds recorded show transfers from Mollie Barnes, Z F Booker, H L Harris, and W H Bills with specified parcels and sums.
A two week revival ended Sunday night with forty four additions to the First Baptist Church.
Burks Transfer and Storage Company moved the office equipment of Dr. E. E. Blackwood into his office over the Comanche National Bank this week. For moving call Burks.
Comanche County ranked fourteenth of 254 Texas counties in meeting the Red Cross goal. The city hit its target on the drive’s first day and the county completed the effort within three days. County Finance Chairman J H Burton urges remaining communities to report promptly to finalize the county total. A telegram from Robert F Shea lauds the chapter and urges continued support for all adults to contribute.
Walter Jack Barrett of Comanche purchased 132 registered Hereford cattle from J. B. Allcorn, including six bulls and 126 females, plus six nonregistered cows and a horse. Barrett leased the Alcorn Ranch near Comanche and plans to continue cattle production. He also acquired two more registered Hereford bulls at the Fort Worth Fat Stock Show. Allcorn says the sale nearly ends his Hereford business, keeping about 25 head and a few horses.
Six candidates have filed for three open seats on the city council in the upcoming election set for Tuesday April 4. The filing deadline with City Secretary H R Jones is Monday March 27. Incumbents whose terms expire are W B Barret Aaron Massingill and C W Williams. Filed candidates include Aaron Massingill W B Barret Ira Clemons Co F Denny George C McKinzie Porter Franks.
The third car of paper from Comanche shipped to a Illinois paper mill. The nation faces a weekly 25 000 ton shortfall of its 155 000 ton quota, making this shipment timely amid high demand. Red Cross contributions totaled 5.40 in the last car, with a check presented by Mr. Hoffman. Mrs. Virgil Carter planned a move from De Leon road to East Central Comanche, using Burkser and Storage Company for the move.
P A Pettit tax assessor will sell car licenses in Gustine Proctor Lamkin and Sipe Springs to ease citizens. Bring title certificate and 1943 registration receipt. Schedule Gustine March 18 Proctor March 21 Lamkin March 22 Sipe Springs March 24.
Only 653 of the 1944 car license plates have been sold in Comanche County by Thursday noon. Assessor-Collector P. A. Pettit urges county vehicle owners to obtain their new tags promptly, noting about 4,175 plates issued last year with similar numbers expected this year. Owners should bring certificate of title and 1943 registration receipts.
Gustine High School Dramatic Club stages three one act plays on Thursday night March 23 at 9 00. The Gustine Adult Quartet will sing between performances. Plays include Buddy Answers An Act He Came To His Father and Hard Boiled.

Captain Herbert N Goodson of Comanche is now in the United Kingdom according to his wife Miss Mary E Jones. Mrs Goodson and son David are at Comanche during his absence. He has been overseas about two months.
Beginning Monday March 20 volunteers from the Comanche County War Price and Rationing Board will survey more than 60 food stores. The aim is to enforce price controls by posting ceiling prices and comparing retailer prices with official OPA ceilings to protect merchants and customers from unfair competition.
Mrs. A. A. Hensler formerly of Comanche died March 12 at Hillcrest Hospital Waco after months of illness and blindness. Funeral at Comanche Funeral Home with Rev. E. G. Gregory Jr. officiating. burial in Oakwood Cemetery. Baylor singers provided special music. she leaves daughter Bernice Hensler and two stepchildren. Her husband A. A. Hensler, a preacher and gardener, died earlier.

Aviation Cadet J. E. White, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rufus James White of Comanche, will soon receive silver pilot's wings and officer's bars at Pampa Army Air Field. An alumnus of Gustine and NYA Trade School Ran ger, he was appointed to pilot training in August 1943 after basic and primary flight training at Muskogee Oklahoma and Coffeyville Kansas. He may serve as instructor or combat pilot after completing training.
The War Food Administration explains hog price support details for 200 to 240 pound hogs at 12.50 per hundred, valid through March 31, 1945, starting October 1, 1944. Chicago base price with market differentials. floor price set at 13.75 for 200 to 270 pounds, temporarily raised to 330 pounds. Other commodities also have support prices.
Peanuts produced in 1944 will be supported at base prices to farmers of 160 per ton for Spanish Virginia and Valencia types and 145 per ton for Runner types. These base prices apply to kernels with 65 percent sound mature content for Virginia Valencia and Runner types and 70 percent for Spanish types. Premiums and discounts will be established for other qualities.
Union Cemetery working is set for Wednesday March 22 per Mrs D P Morgan secretary treasurer urging attendance and dinner. Bring saws hammers and posthole diggers to help build a fence around the cemetery to keep livestock out.
