Local Hero Lt. James O. Jones Jr. Reported Killed in Action
Lt. James O. Jones Jr. of Sipe Springs, formerly at Abilene airport, is officially reported killed in action after being listed missing since Jan. 7, 1943. The War Department notified parents Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Jones Sr. of the loss, with details of a mission ending in zero visibility and a probable sea bailout. Jones, born March 9, 1919, studied at Hardin-Simmons University and John Tarleton College, married Sybil Williams in 1942, and served as a Flying Fortress pilot with postings in Salt Lake City Oklahoma and Goodfellow Field before going overseas.

Ten to twelve boxing bouts are planned at the Comanche High School Gymnasium tonight starting at eight o clock. About ten bouts feature Comanche High students and two likely matchups involve Comanche Grammar School boys. The first event last Friday drew strong crowds and organizers plan weekly fight cards. public admission is invited.

Baptist Revival At Comanche Draws Growing Interest
Interest in the revival at the First Baptist Church of Comanche grows daily with 33 additions by the end of the first week. A baptismal service occurred last night and another is set for Sunday. Dr. A Hope Owen preaches well and John D. Matthews of Tyler leads the song service. Personal evangelistic work by church members under Rev. E. G. Gregory Jr. is noted as effective.

Sidney Army Nurse Killed In Bombing
The War Department released on March 4 the names of five Army nurses who died in the Anzio bombing of field hospitals on February 7 and 10. Included is Second Lt. LaVerne Farquhar of Sidney, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Farquhar. Memorial services were held in Sidney Sunday.

Death Claims Herschel Wyatt
Herschel Wade Wyatt a 15 year old Comanche High School student died Sunday morning in Scottish Rite Hospital Dallas after a two month battle with polio and pneumonia. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Wyatt Sr. of Comanche and survived by three brothers Ralph Jr Donald and Kenneth. He was born March 3 1929 in Hutchinson Kansas and had attended schools in Enid Oklahoma Louisville Kentucky and Comanche. Pallbearers were schoolmates Jimmie Carpenter George Samuels J. L. Cox Neil Sprouse Harold Pate and Bobbie Marshall. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery Petersburg Illinois.

Eiland Fagan, chairman of the Comanche County War Finance Committee, reports from the Federal Reserve Bank that county war bond purchases totaled 485 158 dollars in the latest drive. Of this total 305 718 dollars were Series E Bonds. Comanche ranked 11th of 59 Ft Worth region counties on E Bond sales and 49th on total sales.
