CBS Girls Win Regional Narrowly Over Whitesboro 48-46
Comanche edged Whitesboro 48-46 to capture the regional title amid a 600-strong hometown crowd. Mary Jean Andress led all scorers with 46 across the tournament, while Jean DeWitt added 51 over three games as Whitesboro rallied at times but could not overcome Comanche’s late heroics.

Funeral Rites Held For Mrs. Vada Steele in Comanche County
Mrs. Vada Steele 66 of Dallas, longtime Comanche County resident, died after a Dallas appointment on March 6. Funeral services were conducted March 8 at Cox Cemetery near Comanche by Rev. Marion Gaines. She was born October 2, 1885 in Brown County, formerly Vada Coffee. Survived by husband George Steele and eleven children Lucy Berry Onie Crews Odessa Copeland Eula Mae Smith Erline Carruth Jane Jeter Elmer Clyde Homer and Howard Steele 23 grandchildren a brother Rob Coffee and a sister Wide Bullard. A Freewill Baptist member for about 30 years she remained active until death.

45 Year-Old Buick Touring Car On Exhibit Here
A 45-year-old Buick touring car, bought for 1250 in 1908, is on display at Smith Motors. Owned by Alex Semron of Ortonville Minnesota, the car carries a 1952 Texas inspection certificate and runs about 35 mph. Semron has toured 26 states and plans to visit the remaining 22 by year end.
