Magness Helps Salvage Planes on South Pacific Island
Warrant Officer Gayland W Magness and Staff Sgt Charles S Campbell led an Army Air Forces salvage party that recovered four P-30 Warhawks stranded on a jungle island in the South Pacific. The planes ran out of gas and crash landed. crews were safe, natives assisted, and the team returned with valuable aircraft parts.
