Heavy damage to stock and fixtures at City Grocery owned by Mr and Mrs Cesudie Coker and City Meat Market owned by Leo Shankle on the east side of the square. Fire originated in the rear of the building once owned by Shercog McDonald. Comanche Volunteer Fire Department saved the structures with minimal water damage. Coker estimates about 1500 dollars in losses. Shankle about 1000 dollars. Both had insurance. McDonald awaiting estimate on his building damage. Shankle will be out briefly until repairs and a new stock arrive. Coker begins fire sale advertising bargains and plans to reopen later with new stock.
