Terry Kent Pyburn age 18 of the Sta Creek community was killed when his 1962 model car struck a bridge abutment near Sidney at 12 30 a m He was a 1963 Sidney High School graduate and played football basketball and track Funeral services were held at the Sidney Baptist Church Interment was in Pendergrass Cemetery Comanche Funeral Home directed arrangements Surviving are his parents a brother and several grandparents two other passengers escaped serious injury

Fletcher and Shampes Named to All District Cage Team

Fletcher and Skipper Shampes earned all district honors as top performers for their teams. Fletcher averaged 21.6 points per game and Shumpes 10.4. 4-H Judging Contest At A M Saturday In Texas

Comanche County 4 H Senior Dairy Cattle team from Soda Springs and Comanche clubs will compete in practice dairy cattle judging at Texas A M University on Saturday March 7. Team includes Dorothea Byrd Paul Byrd Anne Williams and Charles Williams with coaches H C Blackshear and C B Williams Jr. They won district first and were second in the statewide 4 H Round Up last year and seek top state finish and a trip to Waterloo Iowa.

Methodist Revival and Redskin Relays Set for March 21

The First Methodist Church Comanche will host revival March 8 to 14 led by Rev. A Bailey Duncan, a Canyon High School and West Texas State College alum. Comanche hosts its first track meet in years March 21 with 16 teams, including McGregor, Bangs, Granbury, Hillsboro, Gorman, Early, Cross Plains, Dublin, Cisco, Coleman, Hamilton, De Leon, San Saba, Santa Anna, and Comanche.

Gustine Methodist Revival Kicks Off Sunday

A church-wide revival at Gustine Methodist Church begins Sunday morning March 8 with Rev. Mervin Turner of Burkburnett as guest speaker. Services continue nightly at 7 30 p.m. Choir led by Grady Harkins with Mrs. Mac Applewhite at the piano. Pastor Rev. Lloyd Sanders urges attendance.

Sayle McCullough Heads Comanche County Livestock Association

Gayle McCullough of Newburg is elected to head the Comanche County Livestock Association for 1964 65 with Parker of Comanche acting as first vice president and Elton Ray Menard of Comanche as second vice president. New officers also include Herbert Goodson of Comanche treasurer and Day and Power of Comanche secretary. The 1965 show dates were set for January 22 23 1965. Four new directors were chosen for three years: Sudley Democrat Evans Proctor Pettit Gustine Reed Sidney. One year terms: Joe Morgan De Leon and Herman Sparkman Gustine. Dukes Jr Files For Comanche School Trustee Seat

Local ranchman L L Dukes Jr of Comanche Rt 2 filed this week as a candidate for Comanche School District trustee. Incumbents Floyd Prather Louis Harelik and George Willis filed for re election. School board election set for April 4 at City Hall with three seats on the ballot. City Council candidates also filing for April 7 election include H O Kelley Jerry Wright and Jack D Parker.

Comanche County 4-H leaders invite youths to a Favorite Foods Show on March 7 at the County Courthouse. Public viewing 3 to 4 30 p.m. Senior winner advances to the District show. Judging 1 30 to 3 00 p.m. Junior and Senior divisions with officials and committees named.

Young Farmers Award Banquet Set for March 12

The Comanche County Young Farmer Association will hold its second Awards Banquet March 12 at the Comanche Junior High School Cafetorium. Dean Paul B. Faulkner of Abilene Christian College will speak on Our Decisive Decade. Awards honor county winners in crop, sheep, dairy, swine, and beef production with Master of Ceremonies Bill Parker. Admission is 1.50, tickets from Young Farmer members or local advisors.

Political Rally and Pie Supper in Soda on March 13

Soda Springs Community Club announces a pie supper and political rally at the Community Center on Friday night March 13. Club Secretary Monselle O'Brien says candidates for all offices are urged to appear on the speaking and eating program.
