Sidney Test Shows Oil at Steele Well West of Sidney
The Dale Steele oil test one mile west of Sidney acidized at 2352 feet and flowed oil after the test. It also showed gas. Promoter John W. Bartlett Jr. reported the well as a good producer, flowing about 100 barrels daily. Drilled by Richard Cunningham with cable tools.

Marshall Memorial Gym Named For Yoakum Coach Tommy Marshall
Yoakum High School plans to name the new gym Marshall Memorial Gymnasium in memory of late coach Tommy Marshall. A bronze plaque will be placed at the entrance by the Yoakum Quarterback Club. Marshall led the Bulldogs for five seasons, winning the 25-AA district title last fall and reaching state finals two years earlier.

First Woman Juror Serves in Comanche County
Mrs Boyd Anthony, of Pecos born Stella Card, became the county’s first female juror in 99 years. She served on a county criminal court trial where Ira Tucker was charged with assault with a deadly weapon. Tucker was found not guilty.
