Austin June 28 Julian Montgomery state highway engineer announced the state highway commission approved 1940 license plate colors. Passenger plates white, commercial orange on black, farm truck black on yellow, tractor trailer dealer bus and motorcycle blue or gold on respective backgrounds. Plates to be made by Texas Prison System and affixed by county tax collectors on March 1, 1940.
J H Robinson of Gustine attended the Annual Texas Beekeepers Association convention in Waxahachie on June 22 23. The event drew the largest crowd yet with talks on bee value and cross pollination by leading industry figures from Texas and other states. Next meeting slated for New Braunfels. Mrs H R Reynolds of Kilgore visiting her mother Mrs Johnson this week.
Writ of execution issued June 26 1939 in Gustine Mercantile Co vs R B Franks case 1670 directs sheriff to sell on first Tuesday in August 1939 at Comanche County Court House door all described undivided interests totaling multiple parcels including 62 acres Whitfield Chalk Survey 15 acres part and 37 3 45 acres parts with homestead rights of Mrs B M Franks. Sale to satisfy judgment of 354.86 plus costs.
The City of Comanche passes an ordinance banning noise from radios, phonographs, and similar devices within city limits. Violators face a misdemeanor charge and fines up to one hundred dollars. The measure declares an emergency suspending the three readings rule and takes effect upon passage and publication.
