New 46 mile Highway 10 route Dublin to Comanche line

State Highway Commission let a 24031 dollar contract to E F Bucy & Sons and C T Childs for grading and drainage on 3.9 miles from Dublin to the Comanche line. The project creates a new straight link from Brownwood through Comanche county to Dublin, saving seven miles and shortening driving time. Concrete paving from Brownwood to the county line should be finished next month, aiming for a premier road section in the state.

Cross Roads Live-at-Home Campaign Ends With Strong Turnout

More than a hundred women and 4-H Club girls attended the Live-at-Home program at Mrs. Henry Jones's Stan Creek Community home. County Agent J. A. Barton and Mrs. Elizabeth Temple, leaders, noted similar interest to earlier sessions. Representatives from Beattie, Sipe Springs, Sidney, Cotton Grove and Bibb joined, with one lady pledging to carry on the program. Temple praised Comanche County cooperation and said interest exceeds that in other counties where she has worked.

J I Starr Store Remodels To House Modern Variety Shop

Remodeling began this week on the J I Starr Store on the South Side of the Square to convert it into a modern variety store in Central West Texas. The store will close next week for interior painting new counters and stock rearrangement with a formal opening set for Monday July 6. Mrs Starr joins Mr Starr in Comanche while he continues Starr Variety Store in Gorman.
