Comanche Board Advances $2 Million School Bonds for New Classrooms
The Comanche Board of Trustees accepted the low bid of 7.31907 per cent from First National Bank of Dallas for $2 million in bonds payable over 28 years. Funds to be delivered after legal clearances by July 20. Construction aims for completion by September 1976 with basic design finished and detail planning by the architect. The board plans for next year include adding classrooms at the elementary school or renting private space.

Funeral held for James R. Staggs after Blanket pickup crash
Services were held for 64 year old James R. Staggs of Blanket who died Wednesday after a pickup and trailer were struck by a westbound train at Blanket crossing. He was taken to Brownwood Community Hospital and pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Joe Bob Morgan. Survivors include his wife Veda Widwell three sons and four daughters. Burial followed in Blanket Cemetery.

Flag Day program marks Comanche County bicentennial
Some three hundred Comanche County residents and visitors gathered at the courthouse lawn on Flag Day 1975 for official bicentennial recognition. The event featured a combined high school band, a flag presentation, and announcements of logo winners and land gifts. Proceeds from a noon luncheon support future county projects.

CHS May Graduate Dies in Bridge Collision Near Proctor
18yearold Comanche High School graduate Don Basham was killed when his 1972 Chevrolet Malibu struck a rolling cultivator attached to a tractor on the Leon River bridge 92 miles east of Comanche on US67. The tractor operator Thomas Hallmark 27 of De Leon was uninjured. Basham, son of Mr and Mrs Robert Basham Jr, died at Comanche Community Hospital. Funeral services were held June 16 at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church Comanche with burial in Newburg Cemetery.
