Pvt Amzy Hibler Killed Day Before Nazis Surrender

Telegram to his wife in Zephyr confirms Pvt Amzy Hibler son of Mr and Mrs Ernest Hibler of Blanket and brother of Mrs C C Thomas was killed in Germany on May 5 1945. Hibler a carpenter before enlistment went overseas September 1944 and was first stationed in Scotland.

Funeral Rites Set for A/S Joe Simmons in Fort Worth

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon in Fort Worth for Joe Oliver Simmons Apprentice Seaman U S Navy who died Monday in a San Diego Naval Hospital from pneumonia He was 18 and the son of Mr and Mrs George Simmons formerly of Comanche He served one month in a radar unit and had studied at the University of Texas for a year He won an appointment to the Naval Academy but failed the eye exam He was a nephew of Mr and Mrs N N Durham Comanche and great nephew of Henry Moore and Mrs Clara Slack He is survived by his parents and was predeceased by an older brother George Simmons Jr in 1931.

Comanche County 4-H Dairy Team Places At Stephenville

The Comanche County 4-H dairy judging team of Jim Rice Stanley Wright and Charlie Richards placed second at the Heart of Texas Dairy Show in Stephenville. Jim Rice was high-point with 355 of 400. Frozen Food Lockers Adds 60 More Lockers

Sixty additional frozen food lockers have been received at the local Frozen Food Lockers plant and are being installed. W. C. McHorse, the manager, says the lockers should be installed by Monday and urges reserved renters to collect their locker keys promptly.
