E L Pierson, Administrative officer for Comanche County ACA 1e Commodity Credit Corporation, is named CCC buyer for 1945 crop farmers peanuts. Effective date 17. CCC will contract with users, crushers and producer cooperatives to act as agents for purchase and disposal. Minimum base price is 160 per ton for Spanish Virginia Valencia types and 145 per ton for Runner types. Prices based on mature kernel content with premiums and discounts for other qualities. CCC offers to store farmer stock peanuts through cooperatives. The 1945 loan, price and sales program will mirror 1944.

Soldier William N. Lloyd Dies in Germany in 1945
Staff Sergeant William N. Lloyd 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Lloyd of Blanket Route 2, died in Germany April 13 1945. He had been a prisoner of war since May 8 1944 and last wrote in February from a German POW camp. A telegram from the War Department conveyed the official loss. Lloyd was born in Soda Springs and graduated Sidney High School in 1941 before enlisting in the Army Air Corps in November 1942.

Beck Returns From Europe After War Service
Pvt. Allen Beck, Comanche soldier wounded twice in Germany, has arrived home to visit his wife and family. He landed in the United States about two weeks ago and received his honorable discharge at Fort Sam Houston Tuesday. Before the war he ran a top and body shop in town and worked at the same shop in Brownwood.

Charles Hoffman 51 a Comanche native and owner of Hoffmans Economy Store died in El Paso after a heart attack while visiting his son Lt Leo Hoffman at Fort Bliss. He left a wife Sarah and three sons Maurice Harold and Leo with Army duties overseas and at Fort Bliss. Funeral held in Austin with burial in Agudas Achim Cemetery Memorial Park.
