Comanche and De Leon publics schools now qualify for the State School Equalization Fund, raising eligibility to districts with 20 to 1250 original scholars. Comanche Soldier Collier Pope Returns Home on Furlough
Cpl. Collier Pope son of Mr and Mrs Roy Pope of Comanche is back on a sixty day furlough after liberation from German captivity. POW from December 20 1944 to April 28 he endured march starvation and multiple prison transfers with food consisting of hot water soup bread and potatoes. He was captured during the Luxembourg breakthrough and freed by a Welsh Division of the British Army.
